Tandy Leather Hartford - 105 — Local services in Berlin

The company and their return policy is horrendous. I have been a repeat customer for three years. Went in to purchase leather and dye for chair seats I am replacing. I purchased a mahogany antique gel based on the swatch featured next to it, as the swatch was the exact color of the original leather seat I was replacing. After cutting out the pattern at home, I applied the gel on a test piece, and while dark, I assumed it would lighten up when spread across a larger surface area. The result was nowhere near the color featured on the swatch, especially in direct sunlight. I brought in the ruined piece along with the original to compare to the swatch I based my purchase off of. I was told that the swatch had aged for 20 years in the sun. I was told a bit of wet water and paper towel to wash off some excess gel and some time in the sun would correct my problem. The color of the swatch and the true gel color on my ruined project couldn’t be less similar, sun will not influence or correct that. They were different colors. Not only this, I was denied a refund of another hide or a monetary refund. I was told the same thing by the zone manager, who I waited 80 minutes to speak to on the phone. This was clearly the store’s mistake by providing an inaccurate swatch color that did not accurately reflect the color of the gel. The refusal by Tandy Leather as a company and by two tiers of management to accommodate the store’s mistake by refunding the hide or offering equal monetary store credit, is negligible and ignorant. I am very displeased and will not be purchasing from Tandy in the future, which makes it very difficult for a CT resident, as Tandy is the only wholesaler to my knowledge...

First time i was in this location, took a while for me to get to it because the traffic was literally backed up till Danbury! Traveling was a bit treAs soon as i walked in the door i met a new friend. TIm was super helpful, knowledgeable and a talented artist and leatherworker. He was able to direct me to all the things i was looking for and helped me find the best deals i could find. I was very pleased with the amount of available products and was able to find everything i wanted and some things i forgot i wanted. They offer classes and most are free. If i lived closer i would literally be in there every week. Overall a good experience for sure. Cant wait to get up there for the next big sale. Thanks again for your help and good...

First time actually in a Tandy Leather Store. The 2 gentleman that were there, one was the owner or manager, were very knowledgeable about leather and how you work it. Told us they have classes to teach all these different ways of crafting with leather and told us so much more, too much to write here! I personally have been tooling, working leather since my dad started teaching me at 6 years old. What a great experience! We will definitely be back. And I highly recommend...
