I love supporting local yarn stores when I travel. Most of time I find gems and meet nice people. Knitters Edge let me down in this case.
I purchased a skein of malabrigo which, I discovered after returning home, was clearly a returned skein that they did not sufficiently QA before putting back on the shelf. I was charged full price for a skein that was in two separate pieces and had ties that did not match. The skein was a mess and took me an hour to untangle.
I called and instead of apologizing, the woman was very defensive and said they would never do that. Instead of offering a reasonable resolution, she wanted me to bring it back (or mail it back) so they have “proof” — said in a very accusatory tone. I opted not to do so because it would be further mailing cost out of my pocket and I am not confident that they would actually address the problem.
So anyway, fellow knitters, this is my experience on my first and last visit to this shop. Wanted to put it out there so others know to check carefully before...
Read moreNew crocheter here! Looking for a place to learn AND maybe make some new friends? Look no further! I'm about 4-5 weeks into taking beginners classes with Becky. She offers a variety of days & times, as seen on the Knitter's Edge website under "learn". I am genuinely in love with this place, the yarn selection is so big, and the floor staff is so helpful. Jen has assisted me a few times and happily answers any questions I've had.
I feel so welcomed by everyone I've encountered, from the owner to all the staff, but especially my new teacher, Becky. She is such a great teacher. From managing small classes of 2-3 crocheters, to larger classes with 12-13 knitters AND crocheters, she can handle questions and distribute her knowledge & warm hospitality with ease.
Cash only for classes, but they will accept cards & Apple Pay for other goods they sell in store!
Thank you to the staff for running such a...
Read moreJust as I was about to check out, I was approached by a woman (who I later discovered is the owner) and asked to empty the yarn from my see through resuable mesh bag and move my purchases into their store mesh shopping bag. Apparently this was due to thefts and they "didn't want an employee tackling me thinking I was stealing" because I was "using my personal shopping bag." Mind you I was in the store for 45mins at this point, and there was no signage describing this policy. I have NEVER had this happen to me. It took me nearly an hour to drive to this shop, so not a great first experience. I'll stick to my usual yarn spots for the time being. I did appreciate one employee; Kira noticed I grabbed yarn from different dye lots and helped me ensure all skeins were from the same dye lot. Thank you Kira!
