Ocean State Job Lot — Local services in Biddeford

I'm generally either bitterly disappointed or elated with finds from Ocean State Job Lot. It's really up to you to be a smart shopper, and sometimes you have to take a risk.

For example, against my better judgement, I bought a German steel no-brand knife from one of these stores a dozen years ago. I still use that knife every day, it holds an edge really well, even after thousands of uses.

I've also been able to find commercial grade cleaning products for a fraction of the price of residential grade chemicals that work perfectly.

That said, I've probably only actually walked out with a purchase half the times I've gone into an OSJL because the stock is so inconsistent. I've also come away with products that end up in the trash or Goodwill days later.

Kudos to Lana! I drove from Brunswick to Biddeford to find rubber mats that were listed as being in stock there. Three clerks and I looked everywhere but couldn’t find the mats. I was warned that the computers were often incorrect when we exhausted possibilities. The in-store computer said there were 17 in stock. We’d finally all given up and I’d gone on to the rest of my shopping when Lana found me in an aisle and produced the mat in question. They’d been buried under unpacked boxes among the other mats we’d examined. I appreciate the efforts of all the help, but Lana’s persistence made the day....

My first trip to Ocean State in Biddeford- and I really had a fine shopping spree. It's a well organized store, clean and lots of great dog and cat stuff. My only real issue with this chain is the scattered location for like products. It always seems that I can find a phone charger at the front, in the rear and around the corner. (Just an example!!) I'd have an easier time spending my $$$ if everything was together on a certain endcap! All in all , the prices are really good and the insider deals are unreal! Get a card!!
