My wife and I have been going to Carter's Jewelers for many years. My wife and I love to spoil each other with jewelry, whether it is new or family heirlooms, and each piece has a deep personal meaning and history for us. I still wear the necklace my wife gave to me for my birthday when we were dating. When people remark on it, as it is a hard to find box link, I tell people my girlfriend bought it for me for my birthday. The amazing staff at Carter's has been there for us, whether it is taking family heirlooms and having them updated to give them more meaning, such as my wife having diamonds from an old piece of her mother's jewelry mounted in a ring that I gave my father for father's day almost 40 years ago that he gave back to me right before he passed, so I could wear and have something from both our parents, to taking other old less meaningful jewelry and either trading or selling it, so we could have items that are more up to date and more meaningful for us, or having the stones removed and the old piece melted to have new custom and unique pieces created just for us. We also live on a farm, which means jewelry accidents happen, broken clasps, loose stones, and other unfortunate mishaps. Thankfully, repairs, especially complicated ones, are fun challenges for them to figure out, and they help restore the item back to where it was before the accident as quickly as they can, while maintaining the quality and workmanship you expect. As Devin says, he would rather get it repaired and returned to you as timely as possible, because it is more meaningful for you to have and wear it, than it is for him to have it in a bin waiting for him to get it repaired. We have found that for every need or want when it comes to jewelry, Carter's has been ready and able to help us get or create it. The best thing about Carter's is not just that they are local, but that they live in and are a part of our community, and as such, are honest, reliable and trustworthy when it comes to some of the most important milestone markers of our lives. We just could not trust something so important to strangers. For me, I would rather go to a local, honest, and trustworthy business that has been a part of our community for almost 100 years, and know they will be there long after you become good lifelong friends with them, than to go to a stranger, who you may never see again or know if they were honest and fair with you. Imagine you want to buy an engagement ring that signifies so much for you, as an indication of the importance of your relationship, and will hopefully be a part of the rest of your life, or, are you going to go and deal with a stranger, hope that they are honest and trustworthy, and that if you need help with your very important item, whether it is a loose stone, a need for resizing, or other issues that can and do happen, that the stranger is still around and available, and that they will be there for you, or go to someone you know will stand beside you and make sure you get the best price and quality, and will help you take care of your investment for as long as you need them. I would also note that in all the years of dealing with everyone at Carter's, and especially now Devin, their prices are more than reasonable, and when you take into account the quality of whatever it is they are helping you with, usually you will find them to actually be less expensive than some of the fly by night businesses that have come and gone through the years both here and in Springfield. If you do a comparison, I think you will find them to be the best choice. If you haven't been there before, I would recommend asking for Devin, and you will find him to be so kind, knowledgeable, and caring, that you will have found a new friend, who also happens to own a top of the line jewelry store. Even if you decide to buy somewhere else, he can help you make sure that you didn't end up buying a lab created diamond, fake stone, or gold plated item, as well as having made a great new friend. I know my wife and I both appreciate everyone...
Read moreI have been dealing with Carter jewelers for about 10 years. I have always been treated with complete honesty. I have sold him gold, and he always has explained what the market was, and what he was paying. I took a 10k gold ring to another shop, and was given $9. Gary has always paid top price. Gary has always been completely honest with me.
I have made it a point to let him know about April what I am wanting to get for my children for Christmas, and he has never let me down. He owns the building, and inventory, so his price is about 20 to 50% less than the other stores. He is second generation in that location, and is well respected by the other local businessmen.
People dismiss him because of his tattoos, but he is trained in jewelry design and has many years experience. He spends 12 hours a day, 5 to 6 days a week working on jewelry.
After reading the review posted by someone that would not leave a name, I had to set the story straight. A 10K gold ring is not worth that much, and I have never seen him being rude to any customer. If someone threatens him he has every right to call the police. Do not believe that bad review from someone that was angry and trying to take...
