I cannot recommend HML more! Kim is a super knowledgeable trainer who will help you achieve all your fitness goals. She is chill, laidback, and supportive; she is NOT one of those get-in-your-face and yell-at-you-till-you-puke trainers. She calmly encourages you to push your potential and before you know it, you feel stronger and healthier.
HML is welcoming and supportive of ALL folks, body types, and fitness levels. Plenty of gyms claim to do the same but this is the first gym I have seen that actually walks the walk and everyone feels like they can find success here. I have shoulder and hip issues and Kim is very mindful of my limitations and offers me modifications in group classes as well as researches my issues so she can stay informed and plan appropriate personal training workouts for me. Despite being unable to do certain movements, I don't think I have ever felt stronger and prouder of my body.
Okay full disclosure, I am only writing this review because we currently have a September Bingo challenge happening at HML and I am weirdly competitive. BUT this is exactly the kind of wizardry I'm talking about! Kim has somehow created an amazing community of humans who come to HML to exercise and stay for the camaraderie, support, laughs, and post workout cheer. I am so grateful to have found...
Read moreAs someone who has worked and trained at all types of gyms and spaces, I won't even hesitate to put Human Movement Lab on top of the list. You won't find anything as comprehensive as the Lab. From functional training that's actually good for your body, to personalized nutrition built for you by a certified professional (because there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all plan or following tips from an influencer), to expanding your fitness palette with other options like the run/walk club, yoga, boxing mitt work (again, with a certified USA boxing coach), mobility and much more - it is essentially a one-stop-shop. Kim understands movement like no other and is well-versed in so many physical fitness and training areas. She is also approachable, professional, and your best cheerleader. Kim does not see you as a business transaction - she's invested in your goals just as much as you are.
This place is a gem and much needed especially in a fitness world filled with differing messages, knowledge and "experts." You'll see a variety of ages, identities, and abilities - all working on various goals. If you're ready for something new, motivating, empowering, filled with community and focused on YOU, the Lab is where it's at. Try a class or drop-in to run/walk on Fridays to get started- you...
Read moreKim's classes have a great flow and I appreciate that she offers different modifications for different bodies! I also love taking classes that incorporate/provide education around the different workout equipment you find in a gym. And the warm-ups and after class guided stretches are on-point. I also work with Kim in 1:1 sessions and those are absolutely fantastic-- Kim listened to my goals and helped me to develop a workout plan for home. Kim walked me through each exersize to ensure that I had correct alligment and also helped me understand how each exercise connected back to my goal. I am really excited go continue to work with Kim at Human Movement Lab for my next goal of becoming more comfortable and confident around lifting and using the different gym equipment. I also worked with Ashlyn, HML's Registered Dietician, to develop a balanced nutrition plan to support my fitness/health goals. Ashlyn's approach is kind, patient, and understanding (I came with a lot of not-so-healthy diet baggage, lol). Ashlyn helped me develop a plan that feels good, sustainable, and realistic for a...
