In June we did a Boston History & Highlights Small Group Walking Tour with Tim Mitchell. We were very fortunate to have gotten Tim as our tour guide. The breadth and depth of his knowledge is very impressive. Tim connected so many parts of history to events happening today, how our Constitution was formed, the intimate and detailed personal history of many of our Founders, the sparks of the Revolution, details of many of the significant characters involved in the Revolution. So much of this knowledge must have been obtained by doing his own extensive research. Simply impressive.
His enthusiasm for the subject and the fact that his energy was still there even near the end of the tour. In fact he seemed to become more energized the more we went.
Although we had some others on the tour who contributed to the discussion and feel of the tour, it in no way detracted from Tim’s excellent tour. Overall a great tour and an excellent guide, by far the best tour we have ever been on. We are going on a Mediterranean tour soon, I wonder if Tim could meet us there? Lol. Thanks so much Tim, your tour filled in a lot of blank spots in our knowledge of...
Read moreMy favorite part of this tour was having such an informed, animated driver/guide. Janet not only gave us a fascinating detailed commentary as our driver/guide, she also including gems of ongoing historical debates on the timelines and stories of the two major battles here in 1775 and amazing back stories on John Hancock and John Adams narrow escapes and the moving and hiding if all the critical they created and other paperwork to ready is for our independence.
We loved Weventures mini van tour because it allowed us the luxury and option to make so many important stops, park in complete comfort and hear all this amazing history and then engage in questions, leisurely walks at each historic spot and get great photos of the sites and monuments. It’s especially great that Weventures is not locked into a rigid schedule of stops. Instead Janet gave us multiple options of fascinating historical sites to choose from and in addition was mindful and super accommodating about our break time, refreshments and fun sightseeing. Janet created a perfect personalized...
Read moreWanted to rate 3.5 but was not an option. So...Connor was a good tour guide for this food and history tour. He was a 4 but the food and history bits were a 3. It was very hot day and Connor made sure to keep us in the shade as much as possible, allow stops for water refills or drink purchases, and checked in to make sure everyone was ok in the 90+ degree temps. He is joyful, tried to connect with each group on the trip, and seemed genuinely happy to be serving as a tour guide. The food was just ok. Cannoli was good as was coffee and the bread but sandwich and pizza were fair. Not much considering the abundant options in Boston and for the time we spent. We have been on several other food tours in other big cities (US and UK) which offered much more diversity, many more stops and food items, and much more information about the food in the area. The history information was mostly what you could get out of a school history book. We wanted more details and information that extended beyond US History class. Decent tour but we would look at another if re-doing...
