Showed up at 630pm on a Thursday. Hours state they're open til 7 (effective 1-9-17...so it's not like the sign was out of date). Door was locked. As I turned to leave the guy came and opened the door and I asked if they were closed. He said no and asked what I was looking for. Told him I was there to buy a XC kit (which I'm fully planning on spending around $1000). He told me they didn't have time to work with me and sell them to me. He told me to come back tomorrow. Unfortunately, I'm one of those people who actually has a job and I don't generally finish before 6pm, which is their closing time every other day. I had specifically made plans to go there tonight since the sign on the door said they're open until 7pm.

Read moreI didn't actually buy anything thanks to the help I received saving me at least $300. I believe it was Nathan who helped me when I went in seeking new bindings for some used roller skis I previously purchased. I initially called seeking boots for the bindings the roller skis came with but was told that they are no longer made. Based on that, I went to get some new bindings compatible with available NNN boots. After some discussion including what cross country boots and bindings I have on my skis, Nathan told me he was sure that my boots would fit in the current roller ski bindings. I thought that I had tried them when I initially got the skis and they didn't work, but on trying them after our conversation, they did indeed fit. Nathan could easily have left that encounter with a little more money in his till but instead took some time to best help me. I'll be back when in need for nordic equipment...

Little longer: Over the past few years I have purchased classical race skis, bindings, and boots, skate boots and bindings, and non-fluoro glide wax. Everything was fit me and my needs perfectly and BNS worked with me to make sure everything was just right. There is a level of expertise that is store-learned, comes from reading manufacturer's literature and then there is the level of expertise BNS has that comes from decades of actual on-snow, racing, testing, coaching, and 10,000 plus hours of skiing experience. This plus their experience working with a wide variety of customers over many, many years and you have a ski shop you can count on to get you skiing...
