Throughout my life, as many folks do, I have joined gyms, halfheartedly attended them, and eventually quit without having made much, if any, progress. But upon finding a newfound motivation in life, I came into Crunch Fitness, as per the recommendation from my brother. Immediately, I knew I was going to enjoy the experience. The front desk staff was upbeat, communicative, and as helpful as one could want. I knew I would need guidance in my journey though, and I wanted to maximize my time spent at the gym, and progress towards my goals, so I inquired in regards to personal training. They then scheduled me to see Jake. My initial intake with Jake was fantastic. He was friendly, asked a lot about my health and fitness in the past and currently, and what my goals were, and ran me through a kind of baseline exercise routine. After that, he set me up with Moe Graziano. This dude, needless to say, knows his stuff. Immediately I felt even more motivated to workout than I already had. Not only did he further inquire as to my past/current health and fitness, but he then curated a specific exercise routine for me to follow, as well as further directed me on my current nutrition intake/tracking. He took his time with me in explaining the exact proper form of every exercise, and if I was unable to do something at the time, he modified it or replaced it with something else, and walked me through everything I would need to know to continue working to maximum efficiency every single day I was in there. He has been as friendly and inclusive as can be, and is always willing to help you, whether it is during your session, or just while you both happen to be at the gym, or if you have a question and text him in his off time. A number of times I have come up to clarify something outside of my sessions, and he has been more than willing to take time from his day to make sure he answers my questions fully. Not only that, but he's even walked over and made form adjustments on me in my own solo days, just having seen me across the gym and wanting to help me. Having that direction, the thoughtfulness, and added accountability (cause who wants anyone to be disappointed in them, right?) has transformed me already in the short few months that I have been there, than I have ever experienced in my life. I wouldn't be as far on my journey without his help; and with the knowledge he has imparted to me already, I will be able to maintain an upward trajectory of health and fitness for the rest of my life. Coupling all of this, with the facilities themselves, which are second to none, I cannot overstate my gratitude and pleasure with the entire Crunch Fitness: Braintree experience. From friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff, to a consistently clean workout environment with a plethora of machines, weights, and space, I am truly grateful to have decided to make my way into this place. If you are looking for a spot to work out, and maybe need some guidance, the staff, trainers, and facilities are all top notch, and I strongly suggest you check it out. Thank you kindly to Moe, and to the whole Crunch Fitness: Braintree...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was overcharged on the personal training sessions. I only wanted to try a month, after dealing with some serious health issues and stress, as a motivator to get back into the gym regularly. I always only intended to do the first 4 weekly sessions, which I told the trainer and he said that was fine, just cancel before the next month of sessions starts. The week of my last session I called to try and cancel and they said I couldn't do it over the phone but to come in for my next session and they could cancel the next month no problem. I ended up being charged for the next month and when I came in, they said there was nothing they could do. Granted, I blame their corporate office just as much because the issue was sent to them as well. All they would say is I signed a contract so they are not required to refund me for the sessions i never received. Crunch isnt the only shady company that does things like this. I've had issues with cancellations at other gyms before and if you search online you'll find many similar stories. These large company chains DO NOT CARE about their customers or your life situation. They only want your money. I ended up only having 3 sessions total and was charged almost $300. It was supposed to be $140 for 4 sessions. Are they going to admit any fault on their part or poor communication? Nope. Do they care at all to try and make it right? Nope. At this point Im not sure I'll ever join a large gym like this again. It was just toxic at a time in my life when I needed positive changes. Make sure you read your contracts in full, no matter what an employee might say, make sure the policies are very clearly explained and that what they say matches whats in writing. If they can take advantage of you to get a buck, they absolutely will...also, their equipment isnt that great compared to other gyms I've been to, its super overcrowded, and the music is way too loud when they run certain classes. I honestly think its worth it to pay extra at a smaller gym or YMCA or buy your own equipment because at the end of the day these people don't seem to have an ounce of humanity, not even during a pandemic when they know folks are struggling. All they understand is greed.
Update: I messaged the email they provided in their reply and never received assistance. It's all for show. They respond with that message to make it look like they care and it's a misunderstanding...it's not. I stand by...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas extremely disappointed when trying to cancel my membership several times due to a medical issue I was refused and told to come back when a manager was available. I then called another day because driving is uncomfortable for me at the moment to ask if they could cancel me over the phone since I came in and was told to return when a manager was present and was refused and given the manager schedule for the following day. The manager was not in when I went and I made the employee take down my note for cancellation. Instead of cancel me promptly when Morgenne came in she put it at the bottom of the priority list and I had to follow up again. I was also charged $18/Month because my contract was up because of this ridiculous delay and lack of compassion.
In terms of the actual club itself, it was often dirty, but I wanted the standard Bench Press & Squat Rack that I could not get at a Planet Fitness. They hire teenagers as their daily staff when a manager is not in, which seems to be pretty often and they frequently are too busy chatting up their friends than actually doing their jobs. The club put up fliers all around the gym stating "this is your gym too, please put weights back and clean up after yourself", but the last number of times I was working out there at peak hours not a single wipe machine had wipes in sight, had to ask the front desk to put them out so I could clean up after myself and was greeted with attitude and sarcasm every time. I would also come in at opening every morning and weights were left all over the floor because clearly staff at closing wasn't doing their job. I worry about actual cleanliness and disease that may spread due to the lack of cleaning operations both because there were no wipes available and because I don't think I've ever seen anyone cleaning anything. For the record, I would have given this club a 2 Star if they hadn't been so in-compassionate and irresponsible handling my cancellation. And sadly, I still would have come back after my injury, but now I'll find a better club at a higher tier than this bottom of the...
