I became a client of Sophia's about a year ago and I will be for life. She takes the time to understand what I am looking to accomplish at the start of each session by asking specific questions, covering all bases. She is a perfectionist. I show her a photo of what I want, and she makes it happen to a T every time. It is quite remarkable. She also makes suggestions when I don't know exactly what I want to do. She is extremely talented and passionate about her work. I have been transitioning from heavy foils back to my natural which is a light brown and I have loved every step of the transition! She is able to maintain the perfect tone whether I am going lighter or darker (not brassy but not too ashy either). Gioia Salon holds itself to the highest of standards when it comes to the overall hair salon experience. It is NOT the type of salon where you are rushed in and out or are left waiting because they overbooked. They allot plenty of time in between each appointment so there is no need to rush, which makes for a very relaxed and enjoyable experience. I love the eco-friendly Kevin Murphy products they use; they have improved the health of my hair. The final result is worth every penny, and if you are even the slightest bit unhappy with the result, the stylists are happy to readdress until you are absolutely in love with your hair. Strong business integrity, run by a couple of amazing women! Sophia and Gina are...
Read moreI use to see Kristen (who I absolutely love), but unfortunately the hourly rates continue to increase and I can’t afford it anymore. It’s unfortunate because I liked the atmosphere and the results of my hair each visit. I recently saw a post saying that they are going gratuity free as a salon, but unfortunately this doesn’t fix my problem as the hourly rate increased again as a result of the change. If I am going to spend hundreds of dollars on my hair in a salon (located out of Hanover, MA), as a client I would feel much comfortable knowing that the hard working and talented stylists are at least receiving gratuity for their work. Perhaps management is after a more affluent clientele? Seems silly as I was able to find a wonderful aveda salon in the city where I can tip generously, I love my results, and it’s still more cost effective than this place. Take your...
Read moreI usually see Sophia but I have seen other stylists at Gioia as well. One feature I like is that I can text the salon to book an appointment. They do consultation appointments before you go in for your real appointment, which I find to be super helpful, especially if it’s the first time meeting the stylist. They provide great suggestions on how to achieve the look I’m going for and how I can achieve that based on my set budget. The hourly pricing is definitely different, but I honestly prefer it. They also recently went gratuity free, which means gratuity is built into the stylists set hourly rate. They still accept tips though! They are a super modern salon and provide a great atmosphere. I always love my hair walking...
