Stop & Shop — Local services in Branford

Very disappointed in this location, as stop and shop is always one of my first choices. I was treated very poorly by one of the older female workers that work the night shift! She was so rude I’ve never had customer service like this in my entire life! On the announcement speaker someone was saying “Anyone in the store come to the front if you don’t come by 10pm we won’t be able to cash you out, you can go to the open register or the self checkout” so I was grabbing something from produce, walking towards the front when she started saying “let’s go, it’s time to go!” (Very loud and rude!) I said ok I’m coming, she then tells me “I don’t get paid to work overtime” (It wasn’t even 10pm yet) I walk over to self checkout and she tells me “why wouldn’t you go to the register” well because I don’t have to, the self checkout register is open. I don’t see why it’s any of your concern? I thought I was actually doing the other older woman working the register a favor by not going to her? Then as I’m scanning my items she’s standing right on top of me, the younger male worker also came over & snatched my basket. She Also printed out my receipt after I walked away to check my items? Ok this Stop & Shop allows me to compare the proverbial AND the literal apples to apples, 😉. Its far more than apples or even the food, which perhaps only SEEMS superior at this Flanders Rd East Lyme location because of its superior staff. I dont want to out myself entirely, but i should admit that Moon and her friends and they have been soo nice to me that i simply must post names i will get back on that. One must understand I came from a town so ridiculous for its intentional snobbery. Overextended and extreme “haves” and “havenots” within 10 miles of each other in one town, while it SHOULD MAKE FOR AN ALTRUISTIC ATMOSPHERE, it does not. Everything about Madison, CT is over rated and moving to East Lyme, certainly just as affluent if not more so, lacks the attitude of people desperate to make you know they are rich by treating others like …servants? I cant put a finger on it, nor do i want to but the belief in kindness and superior work ethic equating to success is prevalent here at Stop & Shop...

This S & S is 1 is of the larger Stop n Shops. It seems that with the extra space the emphasis was put on enlarging the variety & amount of health foods. Can't say anything bad about that, except for the prices! The Health foods at any store are more expensive in general. However with the regular, everyday foods being crazy expensive as it is, it just really makes the health food section seem ridiculous. I'm fortunate in that I love fruits and veggies but even those are stupid expensive, especially the fruits. But it seems to me that, in general, whenever I see an item that's particularly good for me, it is particularly Way too expensive for me. I would like to think that S & S has no other options, but the truth is that the vast majority of large grocery store chains are making more money, quarter after quarter, than they were before the economy dipped and prices started going up in the 1st place.
