Westwood Cinema 6 — Local services in Brenham

If you are looking for reclining seats, IMAX level immersion and gourmet steak and lobster: This ain't the place for you. If you are looking for a good quality, home town feeling, good food and great priced theater: You've found it.

Moved to Brenham with my wife and two children back in 2016, and tried to do something with the family every weekend. Found ourselves at this theater at least 2-3 times a month, if not more.

Concession is great compared to other theaters, both quality and price. A family my size could spend over $100 at other theaters between tickets and concession. Not gourmet, but it's never bad.

My only complaint about this place is the movie quality. While the screens are great, seats are okay and the auditoriums are fine: We have had several movies skip, stop and go down during our visits. I understand technology messes up, but it gets aggravating. A couple of the employees have always made sure we get reimbursed with passes, and have even given out some extra concession during wait periods, so it evens out.

Oh about the employees: Every single time I've gone to this theater: I've received nothing less than top notch service. From the ticket booth all the way to the ticket person: It's always a smiling face and great customer service! I have to give a shout out to the short haired blonde, and a guy who I think goes by Micheal (Cant miss him, long hair, beard and eye-makeup that my daughter says is better than hers). These two ALWAYS make my experience great! They always make small talk and banter with all the customers they greet, and always go above and beyond to make sure we are satisfied. The short haired blonde has always made sure our concession is just the way we like it, and always serves with a smile and a thank you! Micheal has gone out of his way to help carry our concession in, when my wife went up and ordered for all of us, and I've seen him do it with other customers. One night the place flooded (toilet leak, I think), and he was the first to get out there, dressed in dress clothes, sloshing through water in nice shoes to fix the problem. Saw him still cleaning the place by the time we left. You don't find many employees like that! I noticed a few months ago he started wearing dress clothes, so I assume he got promoted to manager or something. Keep up the good work!

Shame we had to move back to Alabama. We miss...

My wife and I moved right outside of Brenham a few months ago and have enjoyed this theatre on many occasions, even once when the power cut out mid movie.

Tonight she and I went to see Tarzan after dinner. My wife is black and I am white. I was in the bathroom while she bought tickets and attempted to go to the theatre to be seated.

She approached the ticket taker, tonight was a middle aged white woman, and was told that they weren't seating for the movie. There were lines for other movies going on at the same time and so she went up to the woman another time for clarity and was told to wait as people were still in the theatre. Not 2 minutes later a group of about 4 white people went and gave their tickets and were let through for Tarzan. This was apparent enough that my wife maybe 15 feet away noticed. She noticed another group of white people allowed through for the same movie directly after.

I came out of the bathroom, and she made mention of this happening to her but said that maybe she misunderstood what happened. A white male at the front of the line for another movie who had heard my wife asking about Tarzan leaned over to the woman and said something to the effect of "that lady there (pointing to my wife) has been asking about Tarzan." She looked up and saw us standing in the arcade game area and waved us along. She took our tickets and allowed us to pass through but only after I was with my wife.

Here's the thing. I wanted to get our money back and talk to management and let this woman know she should have more self respect than to BLATANTLY show prejudice like that, that even OTHER white folks notice and bring up DIRECTLY. My wife calmed me down and said we should just see the movie. When we made it to the door, there were quite a bit of people in front of us, all whom got there after us, but that's irrelevant - we always show up to movies early. It wasn't about the place in line or the people in front of us. My wife was extremely disrespected.

The screens are not good quality, some are dirty or have marks on them. The sound is the worst thing about this theater and more than once I have sat in a movie with a blown speaker. The EQ sounds off, the positional speaker levels sound offx making the surround sound poor. The seats are not very comfortable. The seats are stiff and the cushions are too firm. Also other reviewers have mention expensive ticket prices and they are higher than they should be, especially for the quality of the movie viewing experience. The owners respond to this with they offer lower prices on concession items. With higher ticket prices and lower concession items you usually end spending the same as say Premiere or Cinemark in College Station. That said there are some great things about this theater. The quality of the concession items are much better than most normal theaters, other then specialty dine-in theaters. Also the customer service is excellent and all the staff I have encountered over the two years of coming here are always friendly and welcoming. Last, it's a theater in Brenham, which i love not having to drive an hour to see a movie. They can charge what they do due the fact that it is the only theater within 50 miles. I don't care so much about prices but more about the experience. If the seats were better and the movie experience were a higher quality, this would be a perfect theater but as it is its only tolerable because it's the only...
