We stopped in here at 6 pm on a Thursday with a party of 6 people. There was no wait, but it was pretty slow. Lupe was our server. She was upbeat, friendly, helpful, and professional. She got refills without being asked, and she offered dessert (which most of us ordered). There were 3 steaks ordered and zero complaints! I ordered the fried pork chops, and they were truly fantastic. They were breaded and seasoned just right. They were not over the top with the spices, and they were cooked perfectly. I reheated them in my air-fryer this morning and they are still fork tender!!! *See picture* Whoever was cooking last night is a Rock Star 👏. I also had sweet potato fries, which were decent, and hushpuppies that were great. I love hushpuppies, and these were the only ones I have enjoyed since moving to TX last June. The Philly Cheesesteak sandwich was just mediocre, and I didn't get any feedback on the Monterey Chicken, unfortunately (sorry). There were 2 orders of peach cobbler and one blackberry cobbler ordered, and those were just ok. I'm guessing they are the ones that come frozen in a big 11x14 tin pan that you pop in the oven. They're not bad, they're just meh. The fried pickles were done well, but super greasy. The queso skillet dip wasn't very hot, so it was kind of coagulated, but it had a good flavor. The artichoke dip was pretty good, and the mozzarella sticks were decent as well. Everyone LOVED the fried mushrooms. The atmosphere was alright. It felt comfy and clean. Overall, I enjoyed this place quite a bit and I wouldn't mind visiting again. Shout out to Lupe & to the cook! 👏 👏 👏

I dined alone yesterday. The hostess took me to a booth in the back corner. She was very pleasant. However, when my server arrived, his countenance appeared to say, "Oh, great....here comes a lousy tip." I was very polite when placing my drink & food order. I opted for the sampler appetizer platter, which is definitely no longer $12, as shown on the menu posted on Google. It is now $16. Everything has gone up, so it is what it is. My server brought my drink without so much as a smile. Then when my food came, it was more of the same, compounded by him asking if I was going to "order anything else with ALL THAT?" Wow, sir! I found that rude. How much a person chooses to eat is none of your concern. As it was, I was planning on just the appetizer platter for dinner, but still...very inappropriate. The only good thing I can say about him is that he never let my glass run dry. His attitude earned him the tip he expected. As for the meal, the bacon mac 'n cheese bites would have been good, if they hadn't tasted like fake bacon bits. The spinach artichoke dip was very bland. The tortilla chips came out hot, so they tasted pretty good....until they cooled off. Then you could taste that they were stale. The fried pickles were also bland. The ones on top of the pile were crispy, but they got less so as I reached the puddle of grease they were sitting in. The chicken quesadilla & the ranch dressing were the only things that tasted as I expected. I would not come here again.

We had dinner here at the recommendation of our Airbnb host. We entered and we’re seated almost immediately and the host was incredibly friendly. The interior was neat and clean and well it, and I noticed they even had a power outlet at the table with USB chargers. We ordered The little bit of this little of that appetizer, which is a sample of their samplers. We chose the bacon mac & cheese bites, spinach artichoke dip, fried pickles, and mozzarella sticks. For dinner we ordered the chicken fried chicken and the grown-up grilled cheese. The mini sampler was a hit, with the fried pickles being the best, Lightly breaded so you could taste the flavor of the pickle. The chicken fried chicken came with 2 sides, choosing fresh broccoli and a loaded baked potato(upgrade and worth it) on the side, and both were great. The chicken filet was succulent, and tasty breading and white gravy were great partners. The Grown Up Grilled Cheese was a bit disappointing. It comes with 3 cheeses and avocado, but the “avocado” is more like a single slice of avocado diced into smaller pieces, like a garnish, and the cheese wasn’t gooey and melted like you’d expect.

UPDATE: Once again, VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE WAITSTAFF!!!

On October 9th, my son drove an hour to have lunch with me (on my lunch hour).

We get there, get seated and decide on what we wanted to order (since I ONLY HAVE AN HOUR FOR LUNCH). The waitress finally showed up at our booth 10 minutes later and asked what we wanted to drink. We told her and then I told her that we were ready to order. She says (and I kid you not), "I am only taking drink orders right now". Seriously??!!?? Another 10 minutes goes by, and someone else (other than our waitress) delivers our tea and water!!! Then, another 20 minutes goes by and our waitress STILL HAS NOT COME BACK TO TAKE OUR ORDER!!!

AT THAT POINT, WE GOT UP AND LEFT BECAUSE I WAS GOING TO BE LATE GETTING BACK TO WORK....JUST RIDICULOUS!!!

It is such a shame because the food is really good, but it is not worth spending the majority of someone's lunch hour to continuously wait to order food (especially when one is ready to order their food with the first interaction with their waitress).....SO, if you are on a time schedule, I WOULD NOT SUGGEST THIS PLACE because YOU ARE GOING TO BE THERE FOR AWHILE!!!

And, OBVIOUSLY THE OWNER DOES NOT READ THE REVIEWS AND/OR FRANKLY CARE, because nothing has changed (whatsoever) as far as the service goes.....WOW!!! 😳

ORIGINAL POST:

The food is ALWAYS GREAT!!!

However, the wait staff could use a bit of improvement. The 3 Stars for Service is because our waitress only came to our table (when we were able to get her attention) to refill our glasses.....then again, I really cannot hold her at fault though because maybe it was a staffing...

We were on our way to a conference, and we wanted to have a good Southern lunch. We stopped at this place on 1/27/23 @ 1:30 PM and the hostess and our waiter (Josh) were very nice and answered all our questions. We ordered and I was the only one with a salad. Well the manager brought out the salad and proceeds to ask "who had the salad. My colleagues pointed to me, which I was sitting at the end of the table/booth. She proceeds to put the salad at the edge of the table instead of giving it directly to me. My friend tells her that I have the salad and she very rudely said I didn't know who it belonged to, so I just sat it down. I needed to eat because of my health to take meds so I reached over everyone to grab the salad. In the meantime, everyone was very uncomfortable with eating anything being prepared by the establishment. So, we kindly asked for the manager and she sent someone else to the table, as well as had another waitress stand by pretending like she was talking to another employee to see what we were saying about the incident. We were very uncomfortable as well as insulted. We were the only African Americans in the restaurant at the time and we felt very violated. We tipped our waiter (Josh) very nicely, as he was very very nice. But I do not recommend anyone to eat there as long as she is there. They would not disclose her name and when we told the man that said he was the manager we would not be eating there, he seemed to glad we were leaving. DO NOT EAT THERE REGARDLESS OF THE FOOD, UNTIL THEY GET THAT PARTICULAR EMPLOYEE/MANAGER SOME TRAINING. SHE IS VERY IGNORANT AND SHOULD NOT BE IN CUSTOMER...
