After a stunning experience in 2023 at the Chatham Bars Inn Summer Farm Dinner, my husband and I were beyond excited to try this year's Fall Farm Dinner, even persuading another couple to join us. Sadly, the only redemptive thing about the event was the attentive and expert service of Jorge Nicasio, a steward who helped salvage an otherwise EXTRAORDINARILY DISAPPOINTING experience.
(1) Dining in a greenhouse sounds romantic, right? We thought so too. Turns out when you remove most of the plants to make room for dining, the cement floored, glass-ceilinged greenhouse becomes an echo chamber, making it impossible for even the youngest to hear anyone not shouting directly into their ear. (2) A small, nearly undrinkably bitter, cocktail was the only beverage offered for the first hour. When wine was eventually served, it was meted out like drops of liquid gold. (3) When food service finally began, the otherwise delicious scallops were cold, and the otherwise amazingly flavored duck was almost inedibly tough. (4) When, about twenty minutes into the evening, our party of four agreed to shift down the table, glasses and bread plates in hand, because of a seating error on the part of the CBI, the only thanks we received was from the family we accommodated.
We're not sure how we're going to make it up to our friends for convincing them to spend $200/person for an evening of yelling to be heard, and waiting to be served. Maybe some...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis has become my happy place, where I can escape the stresses of everyday life and lose myself in the incredible flavors and sights of the farm.
First of all, the produce here is simply unbelievable. Every time I visit, I find something new to try and fall in love with. From the heirloom tomatoes to the delicate lettuces and herbs, everything is bursting with flavor and vitality. And the best part is that it's all grown right here on the farm, so you know it's as fresh and organic as it gets.
But it's not just the food that makes Chatham Bars Inn Farm so special. The flowers are absolutely gorgeous, with breathtaking arrangements that seem to be plucked straight from a fairy tale. And let's not forget the salted chocolate chip cookies, which are the perfect sweet and salty treat to cap off a visit to the farm.
Every time I leave Chatham Bars Inn Farm, I feel rejuvenated and inspired. This is a truly special place, and I feel so lucky to be able to experience it. Whether you're a food lover, a nature enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates beauty and tranquility, this farm is not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to the 3rd annual Fall Frolic on October 8 2022, dogs welcome and there were lots! They had a great mix of regular and specialty pumpkins and gourds. (very expensive $$$-watch your weights) A band was playing live music, wish it was louder! Served drinks and food for purchase on nice picnic tables. Had pumpkin painting and face painting for kids, WHY did they choose to use cream oil based paints that DONāT dry and just smear on kids faces and ruined a new sweater ? Grrrrrrrr. A joyous lady sang songs for the kids. There was fresh produce available to buy ($$$) The fresh mini doughnuts were advertised on a sign as A dozen minis for $8.00 but were sold in bags of 6 for $8.00. The doughnuts were very mini, so the false sign and paying $16.00 for 12 very tiny was just a scam. Somebody either was dishonest or just a bad business move. We enjoyed our visit but might try another...
