I've been shopping at this store for a few months now and I made a visit there today to add a little more to my collection of vintage video tapes. I have shopped in this store numerous times, most of the time spending less than $10 and being able to pay with a credit card without an issue. When I went there today I attempted to pay for a pile of video tapes that came to a total of $2. I attempted to hand over my credit card to the cashier whose personal conversation with two customers I appeared to have interrupted, so she already greeted me with a bit of an attitude. When she told me what my total would be without even once making eye contact with me, she actually laughed out loud at me when I handed over my credit card and her exact words to me were "You've got to be kidding me there is no way I'm taking a card for $2. I explained how I had made small purchases numerous times in the store with a credit card without any issue and with that, she shrugged her shoulders and said "Well if anyone else hear let you pay with a card in the past that's on them but I'm not letting you use your card for anything less than $10". I had never been told in the past that there was a minimum dollar amount required to make a purchase with a credit card, nor is there a visible sign anywhere around the register area noting this. Although I have a sneaky suspicion that after reading this review a sign will magically be posted, probably with a little notation claiming how long this Unwritten policy has been in effect. This very rude person never specifically said that this was a policy either, she simply blatantly refused to let me use my credit card when she had just let her personal friends, who she was still engaged in conversation with, make a small dollar purchase with their credit card while I was on line immediately behind them. This person should not be employed at this establishment and this is very very poor customer service!
UPDATE: since I originally posted this review, the exact thing that I said would happen has happened! When I posted this same review on the company's Facebook page, a woman named DEBORAH BEEMER SORCE posted a reply claiming that naturally this Unwritten rule actually was in effect and that there was a sign in the area of the checkout noting it. She even went so far as to specify that this so-called rule had been broken in the past for other customers but she was not willing to break this same rule for me in light of the lackluster customer service that I received ,as well as her contradictions as to the nature and leniency of this policy. Very unfortunate that she is being so stubborn over a...
Read moreThis place has TONS of stuff. I go to this store often because it's on my way from work. I always find something I need here.
They have a separate building next door with (mostly 80's) furniture.
That being said, they do price things a bit much sometimes, especially after the remodel last year. Some things are actual antiques and are priced as such. Other things are just high priced for no apparent reason. I will say, however, that the arbitrary pricing has leveled off since the one volunteer left, so I'm guessing she may have been the culprit.
I have actually bought several antiques here for fair market prices.
My only real gripe about this place is how they mark prices on things. Most things are written on with permanent marker, whether they are antique or not, thereby ruining a bit of the value and leaving you with a permanent price on your item. The other foolish thing they do is to packing tape the ever-loving heck out of everything in a box. Case in point, I once saw a beautiful mint condition 1950's electric razor WITH it's original box. This thrift store used packing tape 360 degrees all over the box and taped on a little price sticker. so much for the value and vintage look of the box. And then they still had it priced to the value of a mint condition razor in a mint...

Unfortunately sometimes customers, even though they have signed our Policy guidelines, ask us to break policy, which we do not do and then they write an unfavorable report. Sometimes customers threaten bodily harm to us, sometimes customers get verbally abusive and tell staff to "shut up", sometimes customers, without regard for others safety, drive recklessly off our property because we did not break our Policy. Sometimes customers mistakenly think we "hold" furniture and that they have claim to it, but unless you actually pay for that furniture, we do not hold. We DO NOT ever sell anything that someone else has PAID for unless, according to our policy, it has been "abandoned". There are actually times that customers call us and let us know they are unable to pick up furniture, and they re-donate to us for resale. Again, unfortunately, when people don't get their way, they write unfavorable information about us. Know that we are doing the best we can to serve our Community and we adhere by the Policies...
