I began taking my newly rescued 7-month-old lab/boxer mix to Barklyn Heights in mid-October. Heâd already been socialized at the shelter and did well there. His evaluation day at Barklyn Heights also went well, and I purchased a 10-day package. For the first several visits, everything seemed fine. On his 6th visit, I picked him up soaked and smelling strongly of chemicals. When I asked about it, Darla at the front desk said they were cleaning with Wysiwash sanitizer and that it was ânontoxic.â Once home, I researched it and learned that extended contact can irritate skin and eyes and that dogs should be removed from the area until surfaces are dry. I decided to be understanding and moved on. Over the next few visits, staff continued to say he was doing great. But on his 10th visit, Darla told me he was being put on a 30-day probation for ârunning across the room aggressively toward a small dogâ and not responding to recall. I apologized, explained that we were working on recall at home, and we continued practicing. The following week, I checked the daycare cameras and didnât see him with the other dogs. When I called, I was told he was in âtime outâ for aggression and was locked alone in a room for 30 minutes to âcollect himself.â However, he was kept separate for over an hour. The next day the same thing happened. When I asked another staff member why, she read a message from Darla giving the same explanation. I began watching the cameras more closely and noticed a pattern: these issues only occurred under Darlaâs supervision. Other staff members were activeâwalking around, interacting with dogs, and monitoring the room. Darla, on the other hand, was often sitting for long periods with her feet propped up. In my view, this is not adequate supervision for a room of 20+ dogs and seems to be leading to unfair punishments, including isolating my dog for exaggerated or inaccurate reasons. After these incidents, Iâve decided not to return to Barklyn Heights. I hope sharing this experience helps others make an informed choice about where to...

We have been using the day care services since the spring and have been so impressed at the level of care and the amount of fun they have each day! The team truly makes this place, they are all so amazing. They are extremely kind and knowledgeable and also never seem to rest, always moving to keep the dogs engaged and the facility impeccably clean. They are always so professional and kind about answering any questions you may have.
We recently used Barklyn for boarding for the first time and the experience was absolutely terrific!! We watched on the cameras as the boys played and had so much fun and were absolutely loved up on by the team. Every night they would sleep soundly just exhausted and happy from their full days of play. The overnight room was massive and cozy. The bath they received before leaving was great quality too, their coats are so soft and clean! It was awesome and comforting to see our dogs have a fun filled vacation while we also got to enjoy one! I truly love that everyone there has such a passion for animals and you can always catch them giving out snuggles and pets throughout the day. It makes me so happy to have such a reliable and awesome place that I know loves and cares for our dogs so much.
I cannot recommend this place enough!! Bennie and Baxter adore coming here and you can clearly see how much they love the staff every time they get to see them, greeting them with kisses and wiggles. This is truly the best place...
