There’s a reason I don’t like this Food Lion and don’t shop here. Unfortunately, I chose to give this one another chance. I’m guilty of procrastinating and so I came here to get some fried chicken for dinner. I arrived shortly after 6pm and there wasn’t any out. I asked and was informed the fryer was down for the night and no more fried chicken till tomorrow. That’s what I get for waiting till 1 hour before a game I wanted to watch and coming to this location. I can never come here without some sort of problem. Never. On the positive side for this store, they had an Asian sauce I need and it was at a cheaper price than I expected to pay elsewhere. Also, I asked for, and received without question, a rain check for the fried chicken which is on sale. As positive as that is, it doesn’t make up for me missing the start of the game and I’m coming home empty handed because I refuse to give this store another penny.
8/28/19 Update: I really want to like this store. It's a nice store and it's the closest Food Lion to home for me. Unfortunately, as I stated in the previous section of this review, I can never come here without some sort of problem and this time was no exception. Before I lay out my most recent issue, I'd like to note that the lady at the deli counter was exceptionally friendly, pleasant, and helpful. This trip started off with her and that gave me false expectations of a positive experience. So here it is. I understand that rotating dated merchandise is important and can be a challenge for any store. With that being said, I don't consider it a major fail if a piece or two misses being removed when it's past the sell by date by maybe a couple days. I don't want it and I'm not sure of exactly what the regulations are regarding this are, but, Houston we have a problem. I'm in the frozen foods section and spot some Goya rice with black beans. They're even marked down and on closout. Nice! I pick one up and I automatically check the sell by date. Hmmm. I better check my phone. I thougth today was 8/24/19. This bag says best by OCT2018. Sorry New Castle Food Lion. I'm not interested in any frozen food which is almost 10 months past it's date. This raises the question: How incompetant does one need to be to miss this? This wasn't one bag. There were about 5 left. I'll be adding a pic to the pics for this store and you may decide...
Read moreMy recent visit to Food Lion in Delaware left me impressed with its cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail. From the moment I entered the store, it was evident that maintaining a welcoming environment was a top priority.
The store's interior was impeccably clean and thoughtfully organized, making it easy to navigate through the aisles. However, what truly stood out was the cleanliness of the restroom facilities. In fact, it was the nicest and cleanest supermarket bathroom I've ever encountered, a testament to the store's commitment to hygiene and customer satisfaction.
While I appreciated the overall ambiance of the store, I was disappointed that they didn't have the specific products I was searching for. Despite this setback, the staff remained courteous and helpful, making inquiries and offering alternatives when possible.
In conclusion, my experience at Food Lion in Delaware was a positive one. Although my shopping list wasn't fully satisfied, the cleanliness, organization, and excellent restroom facilities made for a pleasant visit nonetheless. With a few adjustments to their product offerings, this store has the potential to become a go-to destination for grocery shopping...
Read moreHorrible customer service. I was in line and had my groceries already on the conveyor belt. The person in front of me was returning an item and I was told to go into another lane. The woman returning the item even offered to let him take me ahead of her but he said no. I went to go into another lane after putting all my items back in my cart but 2 people got in that lane before me. I tried to go back in the Elaine I was originally in and there were two people ahead of me. I told the gentleman that now I could not check out because there were people ahead of me and I was going to be backed up behind people with full cards when I only had a few things to purchase. He said okay. So that put my cart away. I called to complain and got the same gentleman. Who stated he would have checked me out but I just left my cart in the aisle. And by the time I put my cart back he was checking out the person who jumped in the line he ordered me out of. I'm wondering if this young man would have treated me differently if I were not a 61-year-old woman. The disrespect he showed for an elderly woman was...
