My experience at this salon was horrible! I went in and requested a refill for my gel nails. While I’m not a nail technician, I have been coming to the salon long enough to know when someone has limited experience or has been poorly trained. I went to the other side to get a pedicure and while sitting there I quietly asked the gentleman if he could get someone to redo my nails and showed him my hands. My nails were uneven, and lumpy please see picture for details At this point another technician working nearby and the woman doing my nails began to converse. Unfortunately, I was not able to understand what was being said. There were several ladies around me that were enjoying the service that I myself was waiting for. However, once the technician started my pedicure, I noticed that I was not offered any specific services like the other customers sitting around me (i.e. spa Pedi, regular or deluxe), rather my feet were placed in cold water and only after I asked for the water to be adjusted did I begin to look more closely at my nails. I tried to get as comfortable as I could while they continued to make jokes about the poor service I received. In the end, the services provided for my feet and toenails came out fine. Shortly after my pedicure, I was approached by the woman who originally did my nails. She told me that I messed the polish up but she would repaint my nails. There was another customer sitting next to me, so I was mindful not to make her uncomfortable about the service she would soon receive. Instead, I just asked for another person. I showed the other technician my nails and explained that nails should not have bumps and gasps where polish should be. After going back and forth with three people, I was told the salon was “busy”. I told them I would wait to get them fixed. The guy who did my pedicure returned and said he would fix my nails. During this process, the original nail technician returned again and grabbed my hands and said she would do it, I pulled my hands away and firmly told her to please stop grabbing me and someone else would fix my nails. While getting them done, I noticed the technicians in the salon continued to talk about me amongst themselves – pointing and making jokes. At this point, I’m now on the phone speaking with a friend and said to her that it would be nice if they spoke a language that I, the client, could understand while they are obviously talking about me. This would give me the opportunity to respond. I noticed that two of the technicians stopped working and pulled out towels around where I was sitting and gestured for another person to stand by the door (which seemed kind of strange since they just told me they were so busy). While still on the phone, I said “I guess they are worried about me being unhappy and think I’m about to run out without paying for service.” I truly wish this review could come to an end but I have...
Read moreI used to frequently come to get my nails done here in years past and their staff was the best, when I went back yesterday for the first time in over a year, there was a handful of new staff that were very unprofessional; i.e would just sit around and gossip when there are customers sitting in a chair waiting for their service to start, as well as sitting around the salon with no shoes on as if they were lounging at home. There were several small children (belonged to staff), the youngest appearing to be no older than 2, running and horsing around through the salon like it was a playhouse, screaming loud and quite frankly irritating. The smallest child would shout at the top of his lungs and throw couch pillows at the others and the staff just laughed and promoted his behavior. Spending as much as $30 for a relaxing manicure after a busy day at work, I used to love coming here, but there is a slim chance of relaxation. Personally, the girl who did my acrylic manicure rushed through and the end result shows. She skipped multiple steps in the normal acrylic process and my nails look like they have scratches all over them because she never buffed them. When she told me to go dry them at the drying station, she simply just told me to go and do it myself, not taking me over and carrying my purse so I wouldn't smudge my wet polish. I ultimately smudged my thumb nail polish and when asked her to fix it, her response was to just put some paint on top, leaving the nail globby and thick instead of redoing the finger all together. She also left many spots unpainted and uneven, and got more paint on the back of my finger than the nail; in which i had to spend time removing and peeling off at home. They do great at eyebrow waxing, except they constantly tell you how hairy your lip is and that you should really consider getting it done too; a bit rude and not necessary if I didn't ask to get it done after multiple times being questioned. *the photo of the nails was taken the day after getting them done
overall, pretty...
Read moreI've recently moved close to the area from VA and decided to give this salon a try. My first and last time coming. The standards for cleanliness is about a 4 out of 10. The bowls for pedicures were not sanitized at all. They literally only change the lining. I understand that women love to come in and get pampered as they should, however my experience today was not good. There was another women getting her pedicure next to me with EXTREMELY poor foot hygiene. It would have given some relief if the tools used on her were discarded afterwards but the other nail tech just placed them back in the drawer.(Which will be used on the next person who sits in her chair) I also requested a manicure (dip with extension) and asked for short square with round edges. My nail tech did square and proceeded to the dip powdered. I asked her to please round the edges. Nearing the end while buffing, there was black residue on my nail. I asked if she could remove it. She said okay. She proceeded to place the top coat on. I asked her again, if she could see the residue and if she could remove it. She said, she'll put a top coat of the color I had. Upon doing so, it was one coat which was uneven. She then proceeded with the top coat again. I had to ask her if she could put a second coat of the color gel polish to even it out. The nail technician did NOT do a proper clean up afterwards. Didn't go over the nails with alcohol or even clean up any residue from the dip powder. This is just my que to just do my own nails at home (which I'm going to go home to fix up after getting them done *professionally * it defeats the whole purpose of going to a nail salon. I do not recommend Sunlight...
