Was looking for something for my 11 year old son "D". He is a introvert kid and it was very hard to find something that caught his heart. Since day 1 of just trying it out the staff was welcoming and amazing. Always friendly and didn't get frustrated with all my questions. After trying the kids classes Jui Jitsu was the best fit along with wrestling. He hasn't missed a day since then except one wrestling class. It's building his strength, confidence and opening him up to making friends out of the comfort zone. Coach Caveman & Coach Matt are doing an amazing job. Even though the classes are very large they circulate and work with all the kids.
Fast forward a few weeks...his older 12 (almost 13 yr old brother) "D2" needed something to keep busy while basketball wasn't in session. He is the complete opposite and very outgoing but extremely picky. He was initially interested just plain old school boxing. I scheduled a one-on-one and come to find out he enjoyed some other things. Since signing up he plans to attend 6-7 days a week. Going on day 3 and he has kept his word and enjoyed every single minute!!!!
Everything I see is positivity and encouragement which is amazing especially when training the young minds.
Now here's the only downfall is all my extra money is going to their memberships(which honestly the price is AMAZING with everything they offer) so I sit here for 2-3 hours ( awkwardly staring at my phone or people ) rather then joining in!! Lol gives me the motivation to ask for a raise at work!!! Jk.... That's not happening!! Lol
And..
My 11 yr old wishes there were boxing...
Read moreWe love WNY MMA! ...my daughter and I have both been training here for the past year. This is an incredibly healthy gym culture. They have instructors who know their skills, are good at teaching, and create a welcoming environment for members, visitors, and newcomers. The other members are serious about their training, but encouraging towards each other, and friendly to new faces. They have everyone from kids to retirees, women and men, first time athletes to professional fighters. The business is organized, professional, clean, and communicates well, not to mention there are classes available in a wide variety of times in all of the major grappling and striking styles. I primarily train at the North Buffalo location, but have had similar experiences at the Eastern Hills location as well. WNY...
