Be careful of ratings here as Google carried over all ratings & reviews of the original Bergheim General Store to The Bergheim Meat Market for some strange reason. My original Bergheim General Store review that was mistakenly carried over to The Bergheim Meat Market is below - and, I just can't explain how much I miss the General Store! Note that I have never been to The Bergheim Meat Market so I can't post an honest review. If they don't sell it, you don't need it. One of the very few true general stores that remains in the U.S., this store is a local treasure. Whether you need seed, hay, groceries (including my favorite Dublin soft drinks), tools, clothes... or want to find out what is going on in the community, this is the place to go. It has been owned and operated by the same family since it opened in 1903. It also serves as the local post office. I can't say enough about how much this store means to the community. If you are passing through town I highly recommend stopping here and you will learn what family-owned small town service is all about. Be sure to tell Stanley (the owner) hello while...
Read moreOn October 4th we traveled to the Bergheim Meat Market after receiving a gift certificate from our daughter who raves about this market. After making our selections and being checked out we presented said gift certificate. The cashier told us we could not use the gc due to "their new system". They did not know how to input using a gc for payment. Upon checking with her manager, she stated the same thing and added "sorry". Today, almost a month later, I called the market to check on the status of processing gift cards as payment and was told they still had not figured it out! I was told "sorry". Ironically they still advertise gift cards for purchase on their website. Buyer beware! How embarrassing to buy a gift card for a gift to someone only to find out it can't be used for a purchase. What a mess!! Seems like they could have run it as cash, but I was told "we can't do that". Very...
Read moreThere's nothing country about this little backroads store which offers top quality cuts of meat, three different types of sausage, and a tight but well curated set of pantry items.
We bought a spiral of "German Sausage" and a spiral of "Garlic Sausage" weighing in around 4lbs. So far we've sampled the garlic sausage which offered a very German flavor that any Duetschlander would be proud of. This was a fantastic grill sausage that was packed firm and ended up grilling out nice and juicy despite some initial overburn from live fire.
If you're looking for a solid brat for a night of drinking with the boys or just looking to serve something top quality for the family this meat market offers a...
