I took my wedding ring in for repair; I had previously lost a couple stones and had them replaced and in a short period of time the prongs became loose again and I lost 2 more again. (Wasn’t this Business that did the repair work)
Gayla suggested having the ring refurbished, basically going through all of it to get it back to its glory. I told her I wasn’t happy with my center stone because I couldn’t get to it to clean it well enough. I had previously had it raised instead of sitting flush as it originally was. So going over this I told her maybe I just needed to upgrade and raise my diamond again. And to my surprise, she actually said “ let’s do the refab first and revisit going larger and raising it later” she told me that they could absolutely do it, but to see if her jeweler had an idea about getting more light to the center stone. My ring is an Art Deco inspired piece that I had picked out just before the Art Deco design was coming back in nearly 20 years ago or so. Our 16 year Anniversary I had ring guards custom made with emeralds because we were married in May. It’s just a gorgeous piece. All of this was done by my previous jeweler.
Gayla said it would be about 3 weeks and That was completely fine, I had been having anxiety about who to use since my jeweler retired. And my ring had been out of commission for about 8 months so between trusting someone with my ring, and having it repaired and back on my finger was raising my anxiety and anticipation. Gayla called and said that she couldn’t wait for me to see it and that it’s absolutely beautiful. I was there within 20 mins. And I literally cried! It was great! I sat there in awe, I didn’t even notice until right before I left that they bored out the gallery underneath the center diamond. I cried more! The light was able to really get in and make it light up and sparkle!!
I know this is long, but I don’t care! Ha! That’s what you’re here for right? I couldn’t be more happy and pleased! And Gayla, well she sold me! First on herself; her honesty, professionalism and integrity showed and put me at ease. Then she sold me on knowledge and experience between what she and her jeweler could do. She got every right, even honing in and knowing exactly what I wanted when I was having a hard time expressing what I wanted.
I will come back! I will recommend to friends and family! Gayla totally could have driven me in a direction that I suggested myself but she didn’t!!! She said, “why don’t we wait to see, it can always be done but let’s wait to see.” She’s good! Good at reading people and understanding what they want! And I appreciate that so much. I have lots of project pieces I look forward to co...
Read moreI brought in my engagement ring to see if the store wanted to buy it because I’m struggling financially. I spoke with an older woman, glasses and shoulder length hair. She took my $10,000 ring into the back to price it. After some time, she brings my ring box to me and said she isn’t buying Princess cut at the moment. Trusting her, I put my ring box in my purse without looking in it. I left the store. The next time I opened my ring box, after my husband was able to get the certification for the diamond, I was SHOCKED to see a fake round cut “Cracker Jack box” ring instead of my engagement ring. When I went to this store to have the error corrected, the same older woman told me she didn’t switch my ring and that I should call the cops, so I did. The mall cops came and treated me like a criminal, druggie pawn hocked jewelry. I think everyone looked at my tattoos and judged me as such. There was no resolution except that the old woman in glasses had me trespassed, so that’s on my record now. The cops told me I can’t make a theft report, or a missing report, and that there is NO WAY to track a lost diamond because there doesn’t exist a database to look up GIA number. LIE. My husband went directly to the BURLESON POLICE STATION to report my ring stolen. There, he discovered there exists a database to track GIA diamond serial numbers and so we provided that to...
Read moreSouthern Gem is so appropriately named, considering that the store is a true gem of Burleson. The store itself is beautiful- from the gorgeous fixtures and entry way chandelier, to the glass cases full of fine jewelry. Not to mention the store’s signature scent, that will appeal to your senses in a way that is not expected for a jewelry store. The ladies who work there are friendly and welcoming, offering help, a drink or snack while you browse or take advantage of the complimentary jewelry cleaning.
Southern Gem did an amazing job on the repair of my wedding ring. I also had them make a duplicate of my wedding band and I can not tell which is the original and which is the new. My rings were returned to me in perfect condition and sparkling like I had not seen them sparkle in years. I highly recommend shopping here and utilizing their jeweler services. If you are looking for an amazing shopping experience for a gift or yourself, Southern Gem...
