I bought a couch at this Habitat for Humanity Restore in September last year when I moved down here. The couch was a hideous floral print, but in great condition (i.e. no weird stains, comfy, didn't smell weird). It had one tear on the left arm that I didn't mind - the thing was $40. Fast forward to now - I'm moving out of my apartment and didn't want to trash the couch because I maybe sat on it 5 times since I've had it. It was in the same condition as when I bought it. I called Habitat and they scheduled a time between 8-830 today. I don't live at the apartment, so I got there a little before 745 and they were already there. After my interaction with them, I doubt they would've waited 15 minutes until the actual window. They came upstairs and saw the couch and declared they couldn't take it because I "Clearly had an animal and that's what the damage is from." I don't have any animals, I don't smoke - and it was the same tear that was there when I bought it. They refused to take it and rattled off a list of excuses to me. That they would get cussed out by the other employees, that whoever sold it to me should have been fired. A bunch of nonsense. They wouldn't even at least take it out of the apartment for me as a courtesy. I'd also like to add that the person who scheduled the pick up, never once inquired about the condition. The kicker was that they parked partially in my neighbors handicap spot. This place is a joke. If you want to find some decent stuff, make the trip to a different ReStore. And if you're hoping to get something picked up by them, don't hold...
Read moreI have been buying many different things from Habitat for Humanity Restore of Alamance County for 20 years. New item in the store everyday! I even worked there from December 28, 2021 to October 28, 2023. Within those 2 years I learned now not to run a business. You definitely don't hire your friends especially "the lazy racist ones". I personally will never donate anything else there. It has a bad manager which I personally saw being rude and racist to a white older couple. I could also tell that the white couple go mad then they became racist acting. Being racist and running a business will only hurt the business. And lying on employees that work hard for you makes it even worse. Located at 1176 North Church Street, Burlington NC. Across from Marco's Pizza. Read moreLots of good stuff. The staff members are always great. Prices on new stuff is usually pretty reasonable, but I wish they would discount older items. They don't do the color sticker system that other stores, so item turnover is relatively low compared to the locations that do.
There are a lot of items with price stickers from many years ago that have just been sitting cluttering up the shelves at too high a price. A roll of sandpaper with a $40 sticker that's been on the shelf for 8 years doesn't make sense. It'd be better to have sold it for $16 8 years ago. The money could go to help someone, the item can go to someone who needs it, and the shelf space can be freed up to sell more items.
Anyway, I'm hoping at some point they do a discount sale on all the old stuff and freshen up...
