Asian Express — Restaurant in Burlington

Really wanted to like this place. The first few times I bought food here were good experiences- the food tasted good and was a good value for the money. The last two times it seems to have gone downhill. I always order Singapore Mei Fun- it's a noodle dish with vegetables, shrimp and pork with curry powder. Initially it was loaded up with ingredients and they got the seasoning strong enough for me. Then, 2nd to last time the amount of vegetables went way down and there was no roast pork, only a few shrimp. I figured maybe they were running low or someone was having an off day. The last time I went, today, I get home and things look good until I pop the lid off and I'm met with a soapy/bleachy smell. Against my better judgement I ate a few bits. As best I can tell, someone soaked the noodles either soapy water, or bleach water to prepare them. The meats and veg didn't have the bitter taste, just the noodles. The only reason this isn't a one star review is that the initial experiences were very good. I don't like to leave a bad review, but this is unsafe. As strong as the smell was there's no way they couldn't have notices...

I would caution anyone that identifies as black to patron this restaurant. The young woman used a napkin to pick up the pen after I used it to sign the receipt. I immediately asked her why did she do that. She replied it’s because she’s avoiding getting sick and her kids sick( pretty low to use a child as cover for racism). I replied it’s a weird thing to do. I didn’t continue the conversation. It’s not weird to take measurements to avoid sickness. Her safety precaution was weird, disrespectful , and putting it mildly a micro aggression; most people wear gloves, mask, and sanitize to avoid catching germs. She didn’t use a napkin to swipe my card nor do she sanitize afterwards. I won’t come back to the establishment. That’s poor treatment of a customer. This is the first time I’ve had an experience...

this place is terrible their sesame chicken is 80% breading i ordered chicken fried rice and the pieces of chicken looked like they've been in the fridge since 2007 the rice was the worst part you're getting more flavor out of the back of a composition notebook than you are with this rice id literally rather go out into the woods looking for bugs and picking berries for dinner than eat here again because the bare minimum nutrients that would give me is far better than the weak flavorless dry dinner combo i just got i whole heartedly believe a blind quadriplegic could make a better meal while being kicked in the chest by a horse don't eat here their sanitation score is a 90 i know the rona has everything shut down but trust me just go to mcdonald's like...
