I booked a consultation with beyond beauty to talk about hair goals. It went over well although it did happen fast. I who has never had anyone do my hair but myself was the main one engaging in the conversation and asking questions that i had seen being asked on hair videos on tik tok i then had to ask her how the day of the hair appointment was gonna go and the process. The next day i came in to get my hair cut (althought i asked for no more than two inches be cut off and the back remain long and the front shorter like layers) my hair dyed, as well as get a silk press. The day of there was not much communication about what was going on with my hair like “im gonna do this or that or you have to sit under the dryer for however long” it was just being done to my hair. The bleach burned my scalp and was rinsed off as soon as she finished putting it on. The hair dye was put in my head without me seeing the color and i had only showed a picture of the color i wanted the day before. And then she just started cutting off my hair and giving me a side part that i never asked for. In total i paid $257 for a consultation, custom hair color, silk press, and a cut. I was there from 2 pm -6:15pm getting my hair done. When I went to look at my hair I had a camera in my face for my “reaction” causing me to feel pressured about my response to the hair. Again my hair was finished at 6:15 pm on Friday and Saturday morning when I woke up after wearing a bonnet my hair looked like I had it done for weeks. I went to my friends house to see if she could fix it and found out my hair is a bunch of different colors. I am not happy with this first time experience of going to a salon. I live in California and came down to visit family. My original hairstylist (who is also in Burlington) was out of town and I accidentally missed my appointment cause we kept setting different days. I refused to go back to Cali with my hair looking a mess. I called around and no hair salon was answering their phone or worked on saturdays (which was shocking to me cause a lot do especially my hairstylist down here). I looked at the views and kept seeing Mrs. Latoya’s name and how her hands can speak volume in your hair. Well… I decided to call and set up an appointment for today and give them a try (y’all know us beautiful black women cannot trust everyone to do our hair so you can imagine how scared I was to try someone other than my original hairstylist). So I just got done not too long ago and she even gave me a heads up that it was looking good before she was officially done (which I am not used to but trust when I say very appreciative for along with another client’s agreement). When she finally finished she let me see it. And Ladies and Gentlemen…my jaw dropped. I couldn’t help but smile and was truly amazed at the volume my hair had I have gotten my hair done so many times including from family members and my original stylist and the one in Cali!
