Didn’t get the chance to skate! My teenagers told me great things about this place. So I decided to bring them and a few friends out to celebrate their 17th birthday. I went to the window and was met by a woman who explained to me that the session that was being held or was for skilled skaters, or “jam skaters” and she called them. I told her that I I had read online and it said that this particular session would not be good for unskilled skaters Kids under 7. In which case my kids were not and are not unskilled skaters. After she tried to explain to me what a jam skater was I told her I understood that, and I still wanted to move forward with the transaction to get my kids and their friends into the skating rink. But then she continued to explain to me that “it’s only for skilled skaters!!”, “Jamz skaters.” I didn’t understand exactly why she kept saying the same thing over and over even after I had already acknowledged that I understood what JAMZ and a skilled skater was. Finally I asked her, “So can we not skate here?” To which point she says, “I just want to know that this is for skills skaters.” I’m like I get that, - I’m standing there with my card in hand ready to pay- and then finally I was just embarrassed because I had my kids and their friends just standing there. I told her, “You know what, that’s okay, never mind. We won’t skate here.” and I just decided to leave.
Upon my observation of the parking lot, it didn’t look like it was packed or full of people. There were maybe 4 or 5 vehicles... maybe. I’m really, really disappointed with how this whole interaction took place. Maybe this establishment is great for some people, but for me, I was not wanted there, it was...
Read moreI've been going to Traxside for the better part of 10 years. Most often my experience is good, but this recent visit was absolutely awful. Eric, the night's designated floor monitor was the most disgustingly rude employee I've had the displeasure of interacting with. He decided to inform a member of my party they were going too fast by pulling them off the rink, yelling at them face to face, and insulting them. His exact words were "I've been watching you all night, you're not that good". With no warnings this outburst was absolutely unacceptable and ruined the night for everyone involved. I and my family will not be returning for a good long while until Traxside management decides to staff competent people as opposed to petulant man children. Unfortunate as Traxside was a place my family and I enjoyed visiting for a long time. Management was understanding when this was brought up to them and fortunately the rest of the staff were pleasant and kind. This floor monitor could take a lesson from them. This interaction was so singularly unpleasant it will stick in my mind for a long time to come, and anyone thinking of skating will receive a recommendation to check out other roller rinks. Traxside - please consider finding...
Read moreIf you are looking to Roller Skate this is really the only absolve place. So for what it is, it’s basically fine. They have skates, music, snacks and a few arcade games. It is generally clean and well kept up, except for the skating floor. It is terribly rough and bumpy. This surface is not easy to glide across, especially for inexperienced skaters. Improvement to the floor surface would get one or two more stars in this review. The other major con is the cost. There is admission to enter the building, rental cost for skates, rental cost for the skating helpers(plastic walkers that help you stay up), and then overpriced low quality food options. They also do not offer a senior discount or a discounted admission for people who just want to sit and watch. It is sad to take advantage of people and charge the full amount for someone who is physically unable to skate, just so they can come in and watch family and friends. We went one time but will most likely...
