The good news: Supermercados Mr. Special #6 Cabo Rojo in Puerto Rico is clean and the floor staff is helpful and some speak English. The wine section is fun with good prices and the store offers interesting brands and a good overall selection.
The bad news: I spent 78 minutes in line at the checkout. Seriously. I know it is at least 78 minutes because I texted my husband to let him know I would be much later than expected getting home and I have the cashier receipt with payment time. I could go into detail into what I observed during the 78 minutes--I had lots of time to observe--but I'm tired and I'm only doing this review once. Inefficiency, poor training, poor judgement, poor problem management skills, and just plain lack of sympathy and common sense for the unfortunate people waiting in line play big roles. Suffice it to say that by the time I reached the cashier my frozen vegetables had thawed and my sliced liver and sausage were warm and had to be thrown away. Even getting bags to put my groceries in took several calls for help. OMG. I will never let this happen again. If I don't reach the counter at ANY grocery store within 20 minutes I will cut my losses and walk away. My husband is appalled that I wasted so much of my day. I've told so many people about my first visit to "Mr. Special" he says I have a great stand up comedy routine to take on the road. Maybe tomorrow I will find the details funny, but not today. OMG. Mr. Special is...
Read moreToday, Tuesday 4th, at exactly 4:45pm, on the less than 10 items cash register number 12,I had the misfortune of having to endure the. Worst kind of customers abuse, the young lady at the register was absoluredly rude, overreacted, flat out offensive and insulting.I have no idea who is in charge of selecting the employees or if they are so poorly chosen that situation expressed here can be a possibility. It is a very sad reality when a simple thing as grabbing a few groceries becomes an episode of anger and even hysteria, if this is the way Mr Special, allows Its customers to be treated, just that fact speaks louder than words and leads me with no option other than to spend mi money in a supermarket that recognizes the importance of treating well its clients. Awful shopping experience, never again to go through ,keep away from this...
Read moreI like the local Mr Special. Their store layout is pretty open and doesn't seem too overcrowded, even on really busy days. They've got lots of options and variety. Parking is always available, and with 2 entrances and exits, it's easy to get in and out. Years ago we went there because they had the quarter machines in the front and my daughter enjoyed playing on them. We sit at and share a meal in the cafeteria every once in a while. The staff always keeps the area pretty clean and encourages healthy social distancing. We've even ordered baked goods from their bakery and...
