This is a HUGE classic car dealership / museum. The owners acquired an old shopping mall, and now it's jammed full of cars. There are cars in every room, roughly 15 - 50 cars in each room, plus all the corridors. I would say about 90% of the vehicles are Detroit Iron --- muscle cars, pony cars, 40's and 50's sedans. Loads of trucks and Corvettes, too. Also some foreign cars --- there's a room full of British cars, several Jaguars, a few Porsches, etc. Most of the vehicles are for sale, with a complete description and price. They claim to have 800 cars, and I don't doubt it.
If there's anything to complain about, it would be nice if the vehicles could be organized better. They have made some attempt to do that --- for instance, the first room on the left is all trucks, many of the British cars are in one room. In all fairness, the vehicles are mostly "land-locked" --- that is, any given car is probably blocked in by several others, so moving them around must be a logistical nightmare. If they were organized into several broad groups, and a person were interested in, say, a pony car, they're all in two or three rooms, rather than scattered all over. I don't know if there are rear entrances to the rooms, but it would help. Maybe this just isn't practical, but it would be nice.
This is a great way to spend an hour or two, whether you're a serious buyer or just looking. As for myself, I ran out of energy before they ran out of cars!
Admission is free. Highly...
Read moreWhile traveling thru Morgantown, PA. Friday afternoon late saw Classic Auto Mall and called them to see when they close. Since they were closing soon it required me to stay at hotel overnight. Went in Saturday morning to see 2 particular cars 1 of which would not start after waiting an hour while they moved it to where they could try starting. So continued to look at next car and decided to leave a deposit with a promise of them getting the car out and videoing the run and drive of the car. It was where the car wasn't able to be moved easily. Continued on my travels and Monday morning texted with salesman Adam about wanting to see the video ASAP so I could make plans on coming back. Monday I texted some question about the car that could be answered prior to it being running. Thursday I texted Adam for a response to my questions. He phoned me and said that the battery was dead and required replacing. I asked about answers to my question and why he was not communicating with me. He laughed and said my text got lost in the 30 or 40 other text he had received. At that time I realized that my purchase was not that important to him or Classic Auto. He said he would see if he could find text. After thinking about it I decided that if my business was not that important I would request my deposit back and not pursue the car any more. He seemed to be surprised that I was canceling our deal. Received my deposit back late that day. Very poor communication...
Read moreThis place rocks! My folks were in the market for a classic/collectible car and had been running into issues with private sellers. Salesman Larry was a true pleasure and the president of the company was there to personally greet folks at the front entrance: a great touch of customer service, well done!
They’ve a HUGE selection of classic & collectible cars for sale from almost every era/decade. Most/all are private sellers putting cars on consignment. We worked with Larry (sales) and he was a pleasure to work with. They also work with a finance company that specializes in classic car financing & the process was painless. They are very upfront about the condition of each car, which eliminated the worries about buying someone else’s problems, & they have cars for sale in everyone’s price range. They also function as a sort of museum as they have a hundreds of “barn” finds and other cars on display, so it’s also like going to an auto museum. I highly, highly recommend checking with these guys if you are ever in the market, or are looking to sell, a classic or collectible auto.
It’s a beautiful drive from virtually anyplace from NYC to Washington, D.C. from Delaware to New Jersey and it’s well worth the drive, even if you just want to look at the collection. I cannot speak more highly of these folks; thanks for making my folks’...
