Loved stopping by here with the pup I'm sitting. It's my first time taking care of a border collie and my firs time with such responsibility over such a smart dog with lots of room for training growth. I walked in for my first time yesterday to just buy a furminator, as google told me what's what i wanted. Andrew asked me why I wanted it and from there gave me a fantastic lesson in managing this furry boy's blowing coat (not using a furminator) as well as guidance on picking out training treats and a bully stick.
It's always a pleasure interacting with somebody that enjoys what they do and understands it. Pet industry in particular.
I'm not surprised that as of the moment i write this review, the only negative review i could find was from somebody that doesn't understand why it's a bad idea to let people a person bring a dog into a small space while it's occupied with a reactive dog. I guess some folks like putting their fur babies in danger?
Lol, the space is thin, but long. Had everything i needed, but i definitely wouldn't have room to redirect my doggo from lunging if another tried to walk past him, so I would definitely either call ahead or first visit without the pup if you're bringing a reactive pupper.
In total, i purchased: 1 brush that pops out the bristles when you press the button, great for his winter coat 1 oz of a low-mid reward treat that has been super useful 1 oz of a high reward cool looking liver jerky thing that may potentially have drugs in it, judging from how much this doggo's obsessed. 1 interesting rabbit toy thing, because i asked andrew for suggestions on a toy that could activate his prey drive. and oooh boy did it work.
will definitely be coming back whenever i'm blessed with a doggo to take care...
Read moreReally appreciating this new local pet shop. I, guiltily, shop quite a bit for my picky standard poodle and am always impressed by chews/treats/brands that we haven't come across before. I really appreciated the thoughtful curation notes that helped me find what might be a good fit for my dog.
We were able to discover some new favorites at The Lucky Pup. The first is a cod fish skin collagen chew, which my dog Demi LOVED - it lasted her over an hour and we still have a good chunk left over. The second is an ostrich marrow bone from a South African company that features exotic proteins. Demi is happily chewing on that as we speak.
I was also impressed by prices at The Lucky Pup - it felt super competitive. I am often sticker shocked by my total at check-out at other boutique pet shops, but was pleasantly surprised here.
What a gem of a store! We...
Read moreI stopped by The Lucky Pup just to ask about freeze-dried nibs for my cat, and the owner was incredibly patient and kind. Even though I was just passing by, he took the time to help me find several great alternatives and carefully asked if my pets had any allergies.
Since I had my dog with me, I casually asked about dental chews—and to my surprise, he brought out a variety of products and let my dog try them one by one to see which ones he liked! Even more generously, when I was about to pay, he gifted us all the samples we had tried, which I didn’t expect at all.
I’ve just moved to Cambridge with my two dogs and one cat, and I’m so glad to have come across a shop run by someone who genuinely cares about animals. I really hope this place thrives and stays in business for a...
