Have you ever been treated like a stereotype when you needed urgent medical care?
Did that get in the way of being heard and receiving fair and equitable treatment?
You will not be ignored or lumped into a stereotypical group if you receive care from Nurse Practitioner Jason or like-minded staff.
A year ago, I drove to a hospital with a broken ankle, jaw, and knee a couple of days after being assaulted by the security of a large luxury hotel in Long Beach, CA, on Easter Sunday, 2021. They followed me to my car off-camera and knocked me unconscious. They broke my jaw, ankle, and knee and repeatedly struck my head, front, back, and side until they bruised my entire forehead and knocked my teeth through my tongue. They also struck me in the chest while lying unconscious on the ground. They stole my phone, and my TD Ameritrade card gave my phone to their friend that lived nearby (organized crime/found my iPhone), and called the police while I was unconscious to say that I had attacked them. They sustained zero injuries, according to all formal reports.
I'd been drinking, and I lost most of the memories from that evening, so they pulled it off. The advice from the police when I called to file a report was to pretend that the assault didn't happen. That was the advice from the police as well as my lawyer. I don't spend much time visiting family in Long Beach anymore.
Because of how standard, poor, and or misleading service is in the medical field, I think it's important to know what will NOT happen to you when you work with Jason or those who share his philosophies and control over treating the public.
I know that if Jason is your Nurse Practitioner, you will receive non-bias, thoughtful, purposeful, and materially useful care and advice.
I received indigent care from a completely different medical group, an intake staff member, and a staff physician. The intake staff member misrepresented that they could and would treat me over the phone, so I drove to the hospital. The physician didn't take me seriously when I saw her about a physical assault I sustained in Los Angeles, CA. She implied that it was what I deserved for drinking that much in public and told me I was okay. A month later, the broken bones revealed themselves when my knee began to heat up and swell. Still, the medical group didn't offer proper treatment, telling me to take it easy now that the bones had already healed.
By one year, I've lost the ability to eat without shooting pain through my jaw; I have three common ringing types in my ears and migraines three to five times per week. I've lost minimal range of motion in my knee and can't kneel or cross my legs with that leg for an extended period.
After making an appointment, I worked with Kateland for intake and Jason, Camp Verde's new favorite Nurse Practitioner. Kateland was a pleasure to work with and worked quickly and effectively. In that single appointment, Jason provided for all of my medical needs through his role and proper empowerment as a Nurse Practitioner.
It would be unreasonable to accomplish much testing during that first visit with the news. That said, Jason coordinated every single reasonable and appropriate test from the X-rays completed that day that needed to occur to neurological scans, physical therapy referrals, and more. If I could take Jason's decision-making ability, judge of character, and action-oriented drive to get things accomplished with me everywhere, I would.
Genuinely and Thankfully,
Daniel...
Read moreImmediate care or urgent care whatever you call it it’s a farce. The website isn’t clear. It’s always been walk-in and now they’re announcing a great change because now they’re doing appointments and it’s supposed to be good for us so when I walked in this morning, hoping to get to see someone even if I had to wait I was encouraged to see that the one person waiting at urgent care was heading back to see a doctor and that left no one else there. So imagine my surprise when I walked up and said I need to see Someone at urgent care, and they asked if I had an appointment. I did not. This was at 10 AM. I said I thought I didn’t need appointment. She said well you don’t if we’re not busy. I said well I drove half an hour to get here my throat painful my glands are swollen. I’m running a fever and I didn’t know where else to go. She said well let me check and offered me an appointment at 2 PM, as that was the only thing she had available I would’ve had to Drive all the way back to Cornville wait an hour and a half and drive back without any guarantees. It was just more than I could take. The receptionist apologizing was nice, but you could tell she really didn’t care. She made no effort to check and see if she could squeeze me in. Remember at this point the whole lobby is empty. I left in tears. I sat in the parking lot got an appointment at nextcare for 45 minutes later, we drove all the way back to Cottonwood, walked in, and I was seem in less than five minutes. Everyone there was caring and helpful and the place was clean and quiet. And it turns out I had something even more serious than I thought thank goodness. Nextcare was there for me. NAH wasn’t. I wish I could’ve gone to my own doctor, but it’s been 20 months since I’ve seen one. Our NAH Doctor retired. We were assigned another one, but she didn’t have any appointments for months so we waited and when it came time for my appointment, we were told she had quit so We were assigned a new one and set up an appointment, but that one was also months away. We finally saw her and she did blood work, but then she quit before and kind of follow up on the blood work or anything. So they assigned us another doctor. We got a point with her about six months later because she was out on maternity leave, that’s the best they could do. Just say I am disappointed with NAH is an...
Read moreI don’t do this often, but I’ve been a nurse since 2017 and this is just not how it works. The communication is awful. I was presenting with right flank pain (in my nursing training that is indicative of a kidney infection and I have treated others with identical symptoms as me) nausea, vomiting, and urinary urgency and frequency. I was told I had to wait two hours to be seen. I was fine with that. I stayed in my car throwing up for two hours and still didn’t get a call. I went in and said I’m throwing up not feeling well can I just stay until I’m called, I’m called 40 minutes later. Provider was amazing, told me I was positive for leukocytes and blood (which also is indicative of an infection. Uti/ kidney infection/ possible kidney stones) I was given IM abx, and a 10 day supply of oral abx. By the fourth day of the abx I am feeling better but not all the way- I called to ask if it’s possible I need a different antibiotic. They stated they cultured my urine and it has bacteria but not enough to culture it so that means I don’t have an infection. (This is a medical assistant telling me this. Which by the way have little to no training with any assessing skills especially regarding UTIs) I said uhhh the provider told me I had polynephritis.. she said oh alright well if you aren’t feeling completely better go to the ER. I said ma’am I don’t need to go to the ER for a uti. She said okay well we aren’t going to help any further. ANOTHER PERSON JUST CALLED ME TO TELL ME ACTUALLY YOU DO HAVE AN INFECTION JUST NOT ENOUGH TO PIN POINT WHAT EXACTLY IT IS... so you can come in or go to the ER. I said someone just called me an hour before telling me that I don’t have an infection? She’s like well you do just not enough.. PEOPLE.. I AM A NURSE WHO HAS WORKED IN URGENT CARE, TRAUMA SETTINGS, YOU NAME IT- I know what symptoms I have and I know how to treat it. You guys need better medical training, communication, and all around common sense. I will NEVER come back here in fear of my medical care being jeopardized by incompetent medical assistants. Sorry!...
