Restocked the Dirty Bombs 🔥 Going fast! #icefishing #lakeofthewoods #shoplocal #fyp #duluth

Updating this mid May 2025. Been shopping here 30 plus years. Review had been 4 stars, but feeling 3.5 is more appropriate these days. Some of the changes in the last year or two have been positive and some not so much. Gun selection has decreased and not a fan of the heavy trigger locks on the handguns. One of the main reasons I shop at local shops instead of online is a person can feel how a gun feels in the hand, size, weight and fit, but the heavy trigger locks take make that impossible. Lots of fishing tackle and a fair selection of firearms and ammunition.

I'm actually quite surprised that so many people had a negative experience here. I will say that a lot of the cashiers are local high school students, I even applied there once, didn't get it though, I should have sent in more apps but that's another story. The only complaints I personally have about this store is, 1) They need to have more varieties of minnows. All the years I've gone there since I was a kid all the minnows they have are chubs and suckers, most other places have much more variety in the types of minnows. With all the different stuff they have there you'd think they'd carry more minnow types. 2) I've personally had some problems with purchasing fishing licenses there in the past. The one time the cashier rang up the info on my license and he didn't enter any of the weight, height, eye color etc on there. He said it didn't matter. But when I had a new one made the next year, the guy copying the info off the old one thought it was really weird, cause it's supposed to be filled out. But this was a few years ago. The other time, the system had been updated or something and for whatever reason the firearms certificate number wasn't working, so I just went and got my license at Gander Mtn. At least their machines work. After that last episode I avoided buying licenses there for a few years but I bought some a year ago so I guess it was just bad luck of the draw...

I hate to do this to them, because in the past, I got one of my first guns from them when I was just a kid, but I cannot recommend this place if you are planning on buying a firearm, or anything having to do with them. The reason it is even getting two stars is because of that memory, and they appear to have a decent bait shop.

Every time in recent memory I have tried to go in to buy a gun product I have just been blown off or treated poorly.

I walked in once and was just looking around, possibly trying to find some defensive 9mm ammo and was told off and rudely asked to "buy something or just leave"

Another time I came back and was just laughed at when I asked if they had any .22lr.

The last straw was when I walked in looking for 7.62x39 ammo and 9mm plinking ammo. They had NO 9mm of any kind and was ignored when I asked about it, and they had a single box of "hunting" ammo in 7.62 that was being sold at 20$, that was just cheap, steel case ammo I could have bought online for $5, including shipping.

There is no reason to shop here quite honestly. They need better salesmen behind the counter and to make a better attempt to be a...

Agree with prior reviewer. Was there yesterday to buy some 22 ammo. The clerk was very rude asked if we had hunting licenses ( we were purchasing some 22 ammo to teach my son to shoot), My friend said we didn't need a hunting license( which is true) and explained we were teaching my son how to target practice. one box of 40 rounds per person is what the store limits and that is what we were attempting to buy. He told us not to come back to the store. Fortunately the outdoor writer for out local newspaper who witnessed the transaction was there and later stepped outside when we were leaving and asked if we could talk and also could be quoted in the paper. The owner witnessed the transaction and said not a word. I have never been to a store that the clerks were so rude and the owner tolerated this behavior. I would never go to this...
