Lumbery — Local services in Cape Elizabeth

Had a great first experience. First off I have heard from several people that so much work went into getting the shop opened in dealing with a town that doesn’t seem to like business , let’s just Get that out in the open . Glad someone has the patience to deal with all of those obstacles. That is one more reason to have mine in south Portland. But I digress .

But it shows that someone has energy and vision to put in the work . As far as the store they did a beautiful buildout . It really has more than I thought it would , not only good lumber but tools, and a decent hardware selection.

But the best was when I asked about delivery . Ryan said "I’m really sorry we don’t really deliver" ( why would they , It’s a small biz ? I totally get it . But when I said I couldn’t fit a few pieces of plywood in my vehicle, he asked about where I lived, 4 miles maybe ? Then He happily offered to bring it over in his little truck , which he did on a break and helped me carry it around my house .

It’s like living in Mayberry when someone does that . I wish these guys the very best of success . If you need lumber Or some random hardware etc I really think it’s worth giving...

Lumbery is a gem. True local lumber yards are hard to find now and the owners are amazing. Very knowledgeable and brainstormed my project with me like I was an old buddy. Having a Cape Elizabeth shop to rip lumber to size without having to go to Home Depot 20 minutes away is a gamechanger. I would implore you on your next Home Depot run to redirect your car to Lumbery's instead; saves you time, you are supporting a local business, and you feel at home when you walk through the door.

Pro tip - if you don't have a full tool arsenal and have projects lined up in your head their tool borrowing subscription is a god send. One small project that requires a nail gun will cover the modest yearly...

I had a very positive experience at The Lumbery. I went into the shop several days in a row to get multiple pieces of wood cut for a complicated project (installing a new air conditioner in my campervan) and everyone I met was kind, helpful, and patient (I even had a toddler in tow). The wood was cut (and recut, when I made measuring errors) quickly. I never could have completed this project without buying expensive tools if it wasn’t for The Lumbery.
