Food Lion — Local services in Carrboro

This morning I had the worse customer service experience ever from an employee name Avon Perry!!! I usually do self checkout, but all the lanes were gone, so I went through a line with a rep to ring up my groceries. I had a basket with less than 6 breakfast items. Perry proceeds to tell me, "you need to take the stuff out your basket next time so it would make my job easier." I responded, to let her know "that isn't my job and wouldn't it be easier to take it out the basket and just ring it up, you are actually doing double work by taking it out putting it on the belt, and then ringing out up." We definitely exchange words and as I finished paying for my items she slams the basket down near my bagged groceries to tell me "you need to put the basket back where you got it from." Of course my response was, "No I will not!" After speaking to a Lead and another employee after the incident, they informed me, this isn't the first time (its been several times) patrons have complained about her service!!! She is rude, disrespectful, and does not have any customer service skills about herself. I shop at this location often and have never encounter such an ugly individual. Food Lion, she needs to be fired!! Avon Perry does not deserve to be a representative of...

This Food Lion has needed new management for years now. Staff turnover, always short staffed with 1 cashier open, old and rickety grocery carts, IF any available. The cashiers look and act miserable. The biggest complaint is management’s lack of availability for alcohol purchases. Why aren’t managers readily available and going to cashiers anymore?? The cashiers have to constantly hunt them down, 1 product by 1. So inefficient and very poor management.

I have literally called the store at 5pm on a Friday to have the office answer and requested more cashiers out there while in line since I saw the 2 managers hide in the office during peak season. 1 cashier with 12 people in line and self-checkout stacked. 5 minutes later, they came out to reluctantly help. So sad. When I walked in at noon today and saw no shopping carts during a slow period and 1 cashier’s line backed up, I literally walked out and went to the Food Lion on HWY 54 2 miles away. From the five stars reviews that I’ve seen from others, those people are about as bad as people that I hear from this location, from the workers, etc. My friend works at this location and the stories I hear; it’s quite interesting. They had an employee that had ongoing issues with a minor that HR did nothing about, apparently. Managers going back and forth (sometimes physically) with the customer and employees (including my friend which is always in an issue with a manager and another guy that’s not a manager that seen to watch him all the time), and other stories that I won’t share, so it’s a good thing his time is almost done there because this location and multiple other locations of this company are quite embarrassing.
