I was also a member of this club prior to O2 taking over, and I have to say, it's been a much better experience overall since they did. There were definitely some growing pains they went through with maintenance, pool, etc...as mentioned above, but over the past 6+ months they seem to have gotten a good solid hold on things. Plenty of options, great trainers, up-beat/positive instructors, CLEAN (very clean) pool now. Everyone at the desk is very responsive and positive. Was it a bit 'iffy' when they first took over? Yes. Visited Captain John's Dockside Restaurant at Cole Park Plaza off of 15/501 to try their seafood menu with two of my sister-in-law's families and their children. The restaurant has a nautical theme with lots of model boats around the borders of the booths with a separate bar area from the restaurant itself.The atmosphere is definitely family and event worthy oriented. There were two different families hosting post graduation celebrations near our tables. There were also both singles and couples dining here as well. An odd piece of deliberately gentrified real estate, which is becoming more common to this UNC exurb. It seems like several spots in a 20-mile radius are trying the same template of hybridized commercialism.

Ate at a Malaysian restaurant—very fresh ingredients, good flavor profiles—while a blues(?) band played to an outdoor coffeehouse crowd, across a small park/performance lawn. I will try the "burger pub/bistro" nearby, if I return.

Nearby "residential" buildings don't look lived-in (shades drawn, lack of personalization), but the area will have to develop more personality or charm by drawing neighbors and regulars who HAVE any. I...
