Panda Garden — Restaurant in Carrboro

I gave this place two attempts impress me. I ordered the Beef w/ mixed vegetables combination dinner each time. I love chinese takeout and try every single one I come across. I have never eaten at a Chinese takeout worse than this before. On top of that their prices are higher than much better sit down quality Chinese resturants. ($9 for a combination dinner) They are the only chinese takeout in the general area so I guess that is why they are still in business here. I don't mind driving an extra 10 miles to get something decent.

The Beef was just a tad below your typical chinese takeout quality. It was very stringy and chewy. 1.5/5

The broccoli was mostly yellow, the snow peas had many dark brown spots, along with the mushrooms being spotty as well. 1/5

The brown sauce was very bland, and lacked any distinctive flavor. 1/5

The fried rice was simply horrible. It had a very earthy soily dirt taste to it. The pork bits were mostly fat. I couldn't eat it. 0/5

The soup. There are no words available in the English language to accurately describe how bad the soup was. I wasn't able...

Typical simple small chinese carry-out with a few tables to dine in. Service was great, fast, with a smile. Food was very disappointing. Fried Dumplings, when I opened the packaging, smelled burnt. Sure enough, one side burnt, like they put them in a hot wok and didn't flip them. Doesn't seem right.

Fried rice was not fried. Simply seasoned rice with ingredients mixed in. No oil flavor, no fried flavor. They were working hard back there (open kitchen). But seems it was certainly not done correctly.

I will not be going back, which is a shame since I just moved here and the location is right...

We tried out Panda Garden based upon the recommendation from a friend of a friend one night for dinner and selected several appetizers and 4 or 5 different dishes that we were all familiar with and thought would be "safe" choices. Sadly, we could not have been more disappointed with Panda Garden. Not only was it the WORST Chinese food we have ever eaten but it was the worst dining experience as well. It was so terribly awful I would give it ZERO stars if I could because I can't imagine food being worse than this and still...
