I found Sage goddess at the beginning of 2022. I joined their Crystal Masters class and all in all thought it was a decent class. They did try to push their monthly tool set for each class which were a bit overpriced but I went ahead and bought them anyway. Honestly, the quality of some of the stones I received was very subpar yet I was paying about $50 each month for the tools and $40 for the class. Add in shipping and tax and you have over $100 each month.
When 2023 started, I wanted to upgrade to the full classes. Those were $100 per month and an additional $60 for the tools. I opted not to get the tools this time around because I had had such bad luck with them last year. For the first couple of months I was very excited for the classes but started to see problems very quickly. I wasn't feeling like I was learning anything. The classes felt like Social Hour with her co-workers. I would ask questions in the live feed and they wouldn't be answered. I would submit questions and they wouldn't get answered. Ultimately I felt extremely unseen and ignored in this class. By around August or September I was fed up. I wasn't learning anything, I had paid $1,000 for this course and I felt like the only thing that was of any importance to Athena was selling more stuff or talking about herself.
I know her intention for starting this business was (supposedly) genuine and she wanted to give back. She was offering free Moon ceremonies on youtube. Over the years, it just felt like her intentions grew more to selling things than giving back. It started to take on a very commercial feel. She had kits for every event, every Moon ceremony, every class, every Solstice or equinox, everything. She was just trying to sell sell sell. Profits profits profits!
Then I caught on to a little trick of hers. She was purchasing things from Amazon and turning around and reselling them on her own website. (i.e her shawl). It was little things like this that just gave me an icky feeling.
I ultimately stopped buying any merchandise off of her website about the middle of 2023. Around August or September of 2023 I was realizing this class was a waste of my money and I didn't want to continue doing business with Sage Goddess anymore. I have some points saved up in my account and I will use that for one final order and then I'm done! I don't feel like this is an authentic company, I feel like it's consumerism at its finest.
I feel like Athena's genuine want to give back to the Community has been overshadowed by the desire to sell and make money. I just feel like the company has lost its genuine feel over the years and it feels like there's a little bit of a self-righteous ego going on.
I have no problem with someone being proud of the company that they started but it started to have this feel where she was the biggest, best and should really be the only metaphysical online store. She was kind of having a Jeff Bezos/ Amazon feel. (BTW, she loves Amazon, so... yupāļø)
The items on her website are also a bit overpriced. I've been able to find merchandise at local shops that were better quality for a lower price. I also don't like the fact that she says they fill orders using "intuitive grab" as how they decide what's going to go in your box to be shipped. There's nothing intuitive about it, it's some people in a warehouse filling shipping orders. Absolutely nothing intuitive!
The images on their website are always way nicer looking than what you will actually receive, especially if you buy off of the Tuesday gem sale shows. Those are the worst! Extremely overpriced stuff! And the quality of things that I received from those shows was generally way way different from what they were advertising on screen
I will never give Athena or Sage Goddess my money again!
My advice is go into stores where you can actually look at and pick up the stones. Find the ones that truly call to you and don't let somebody in a warehouse "intuitively" pick your stones for you. You will be most happy with stones that you get to choose and that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have good and bad things to share about SG. First, I've received some really beautiful crystals from them. Some not so great and some overpriced for what I received. Athena is often very generous in her giveaways and with her time. I honestly never felt truly welcome or included in her groups. There was always something that really didn't sit right with me. Maybe it was because she seemed to have her favorites who had been with her since the beginning. The constant ads being pushed in the groups on FB was over the top ridiculous. Athena states you don't need all the things so why then are the groups being bombarded with ads for all the things? The groups were often full of low vibrations and sometimes fighting between members. I found it could be quite toxic at times and eventually had to quit as it became too much. I was deceived as many were by the ingredients in the perfumes. While I understand wanting to protect your proprietary recipes, what I find unconscionable is putting toxic fragrance oils in the perfumes and not being upfront about this. The listings have since changed to state they may contain fragrance oils. Almost every perfume listing says this. Either they contain toxic synthetic oils or they don't. Why not be upfront so people can make informed choices? Had I known, I would never have purchased them. I see in one review Athena's husband stated high quality fragrance oils are used. It is synthetic meaning it is laden with chemicals so what about that is high quality? I was in Athena's groups for many years. I found over time she became more focused on growing her business and class sizes and less focused on providing quality in both class content and product. My last complaint is the fact there are no refunds. I have never heard of a company refusing to give refunds before this one. I contacted SG to cancel some orders which had been sitting for more than 3 weeks unfilled. The reason I wanted to cancel was due to a reduction in income. They refused to refund the orders and suddenly they were filled and shipped immediately. I spent thousands of dollars at this company and this is how I was treated. This was the final straw for me where it became evident that SG could care less about their customers and students and it was all...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis Sage Goddess has a following of 850,000 people on facebook. This means she is telling her followers, most of whom have never been to Hawaii, that it is okay to to trespass and vandalize an historic and sacred place such as Pu'u o Mahuka Heiau State Monument. The "Sage Goddess" page claims to be an alternative and holistic healing site that sells crystals, oils, and other new-age healing paraphernalia. The problem with that is that she posted pictures of herself standing in the middle of the heiau where the ahu would be and she is "charging" her crystals at a sacred Hawaiian site.
Of course, no one has a problem with visiting our sacred sites or charging their crystals. We believe in people doing their own thing as long as it's not harming the place they're in or anyone else. Walking onto the heiau is trespassing and will damage the historic site. Moving the stones of the heiau is vandalizing and compromises the integrity of the site. By giving false information or leaving pertinent information out of your descriptions, you are intentionally misleading people.
*Puu o Mahuka Heiau is one that was used for many purposes, including HUMAN SACRIFICE. Sage Goddess, you are charging your crystals in a place whose energy is tainted with the blood of ritual sacrifice. This is not listed in your descriptions on the pages that you are SELLING those same crystals to your followers. With such a large following, you have the power to share the right information far and wide. One would hope that you would choose to pass on what is right and true, not just what you think would make your products sell.
In Hawaii, magic is everywhere. This magic calls to people, encouraging them to come. This mana is ever present and it is powerful . But not all of that mana is meant to make its way into the homes of unsuspecting followers. It is important to respect that mana by respecting Hawaii and her sites that are considered sacred by her people.
