Tasty Block Hawaiian Shaved Ice — Restaurant in Carson

This place claims to be the true Hawaiian shaved ice experience, but man was I disappointed.

Those who say this is the "real Hawaiian shaved ice", clearly has never been to Hawaii, or has never had good shaved ice. The ice is so rough and blocky - far from smooth and fine.

Honestly, I can forgive the quality of the ice and continue coming here if they weren't so stingy. I got the green tea shaved ice with condensed milk and red beans, but all I got was a cup of white ice with barely any syrup, poorly drizzled condensed milk, and a half a teaspoon of beans. If I'm paying almost $1 for the toppings, I expect to get more than an amount of red beans I can count with my fingers.

Their stinginess definitely kills the ohana vibe that they advertise to have. The overall taste isn't bad at all. We're talking about sugared ice and various toppings here. Please stop with the stinginess and at least give us what we're paying for. (it'll taste better...

Been living and working near by for years but came by this place in a whim during break and it was fantastic.

Great flavors, friendly, clean, and good prices. One of us got a root beer float and the other shaved ice with three flavors and condensed milk. A small size was plenty generous and everything was delicious on a warm day.

Can't wait to to back again and try more flavors.

I took a photo of the hours on the door since reviews were kind of mixed on when they opened but mostly seems to open after lunch.

Now I just gotta convince the office to being their food truck...

Beats driving to Anaheim, paying for a Disneyland ticket waiting in line outside the tiki hut bar just to get a taste of that sweet pineapple Dole whip! Yup, tasty block owns a machine! They also have interesting island inspired ice cream, like sea salt caramel ( my fav) and lychee ( my hubby's fav). They make shave ice here too, as per the storefront name, and some other I guess Filipino ice cream of some sort... had all kinds of interesting goodies on it? I'm a plain Dole whip kinda girl...
