I have lived all over this nation. And this is by far the worst electric company. Smh no wonder the state of Missouri is looking into them. No wonder they tried to get rid of the Mayor, when he simply wanted to see their funds....... Why did I just receive a cut off notice.....for the day before Christmas eve for the amount of.....wait for it..... are you ready.... 21.44. That's right 21 dollars and 44 cents. Put it on the next bill... like a normal company. Sick of this money hungry company, They have carthage monopolized, you want power here.... you have to use CwEP... they do not allow any other companies in, or outside contracts. Smh yall lost yalls minds this time. Then yall have the audacity to have PROUDLY SERVING OUR COMMUNITY SINCE 1898 at the bottom of the page.... what .... where this pride coming from.... pride in harassing an already struggling community. It doesn't even store even your user name......making tons of residence have to redo their account over and over just to pay online. There is no pay as guest option bc again the site is as outdated as the services they provide. Who tF authorized mailing residence 4 weeks a month .who the fck authorized threatening to shut electricity off for 21 dollars. They need to be fire.    Read moreThis is the most expensive and hard-hearted electric company I've ever had to use. When we moved into our house 2 years ago, we had to pay a shockingly high deposit - $1,000!!! Just to have services turned on?? The reason given to us was that it was "the average cost of bills at that residence over the past year." Bills run $450+ in spring/fall, but skyrocket to as high as $1,350 for ONE MONTH last February, and $1,100 for January. That's the cost of our rent plus half again. My wife has begged more than once not to be shut off, asserting that we have 3 children in our home and that she's ill and has applied for disability - didn't seem to matter. We've had to seek help from economic security twice. These bills have put us so far behind on rent/car payments that we've nearly lost our home and vehicle, just to keep basic necessities for survival. We paid half our balance 2 weeks ago, and it was $800 for HALF. Had to agree to pay $800 more in 2 days or be shut off. How are we paying so much when our heat's been out downstairs and our downstairs water heater is broken?? We report water leaks, a busted meter, etc. to the landlord, but we can't force him to repair these things. My electric bill shouldn't cost as much as my rent and car payment combined, ever. The cold weather rule is the ONLY thing that saved us this winter, even though Missouri has a pretty miserly policy. 2 years of struggling, poverty and fear = we're moving out of Carthage ASAP before we lose everything. I went to call and the office was already closed. I called today to notify them the app wasn’t working and I shouldn’t be charged a late fee for their app that STILL isn’t working. I get told well we waived a penalty for you before. WHAT???? I’ve only been here a year and have never called about this app that I just got at my new home. How is this possible??? The lady says well a few years ago we waived a penalty before…. What? When? And even if that is true which I don’t believe it is… the situation is for this app that’s happening now and I’ve never called about this app before. They didn’t care.
