I've lived in Hillsboro for almost 20 years and utilized the little town grocery store that is now Karsch's. I have never had any issues with this store, until today. I had a cart of groceries and a bottle of wine. My son (14) was helping me unload the cart onto the belt and one of the items he grabbed was my bottle of wine. They wanted to card him. At first I thought they were joking, but they were serious! I handed them my ID but they wouldn't take it. My wine, my ID with my face, my debit card with my name on it and they wouldn't let me purchase it because he touched it. I offered to finish my transaction, go grab a bottle of wine off the shelf and make a separate purchase and they denied me that as well. I then offered to send him out to my car. And they refused that too. I mean, he was pushing the cart too that had the bottle of wine in it! So, at what point am I allowed to purchase a bottle of wine now that they have seen my and my sons face!?!?! I have NEVER heard of this before and have NEVER had this happen to me. They have officially lost my business. I will drive the extra minutes to...
Read moreStaff is friendly but management could use some training. My biggest problem with this store is the fact that they have expired product in every single department. I’ve gotten to the point where I check the dates of everything before I buy it and even bring expired food up to the counter with me. Seems like they have plenty of staff so it’s a management issue again. I had bought some bean dip one day and ate it the next and checked the date and it had expired two weeks prior. Disgusting. When I called they acted like it was no big deal and that I would have to have my receipt with me for a refund even if I brought the expired product back to the store. I told them to go check the shelf to verify that they still had expired product on the floor and they said they didn’t. Then about a month later I go to buy the bean dip again and there was three containers on the shelf that had been expired...
