Almost perfect. I went there once. The staff greeted me like family when I walked in, with warm smiles and immediately asked about my day. I had just moved, and needed a place to buy meat. I ordered 2lbs chicken, 2lbs beef, 1lb of sausage and 1lb of bacon. The man behind the counter washed his hands and then gathered all the meat. He weighed it out (giving me at least an extra 10th of a pound on everything and as much as a qp extra for the breakfast sausage) and then wrapped it up. So far so good. I paid, and then went home. Great experience. Until I got home. I opened the meat to repackage it in ziplocs to freeze some chicken and beef. Thats when I noticed the chicken had brown spots on the underside, and was UNUSUALLY slimy. It also had a strange smell. Not like spoiled chicken, but not like any chicken I've ever smelled. The beef was the same story. The beef had a noticeably off smell, smelled of manure and hay. Well I decided to keep, and eat all of them in the next 3 days. I didn't get sick, so thats good. That being said, the meat just wasn't super good. It was flavorless when compared to chicken or beef or bacon from a different store. The bacon itself tasted like the smell of a barn. Overall, the staff and environment are perfect. Thats where it ends though. The meat is subpar (and honestly may not be safe to eat), and the prices are not the best. In my opinion some of the best meat and even fish can be found at Aldi. The meat are fish look and are safe to eat, they taste like they should, and the prices...
Read moreThis place is hands down THE BEST! First of all, every business ever needs to send their employees here to be trained on customer service. I felt welcomed and appreciated from moment one and the entire time I was there! Second, the selection is so amazing it's almost overwhelming (but everything is organized and labeled)! There really is absolutely NO wonder how these folx have made it the last 47 years as a family-owned mom & pop shop. They're the best! We will be going back again and again!
Side note: The smoked pig ears are a GREAT treat for your dog! My two heavy chewers absolutely LOVED them! Think actual smoked pig ears, not those thin chip ones from the pet store. However, smoked bones - in general - are bad for dogs. They shatter easily and can cause many issues like perforations of the esophagus, stomach, and intestines (in general, not saying that of specific ones). Likewise, rawhide is also bad for dogs. Though theirs are smoked in-house and don't have any chemicals added, rawhide has been linked to blockages in dogs that can cause need for emergency surgery because it is not digestible. If you choose to use these, use both rawhide and smoked bones under extremely careful supervision and make sure your dog doesn't eat any pieces!
Overall, WONDERFUL place! It reminded me of being in my small, country hometown and sort of takes you back to...
Read more*Edit: This was my go to place, but that was until I hit my three strike rule. After having three bad experiences, I can no longer return. From weirdly sweet smelling ground beef, sausages that smelt like manure, and other situations, I have cut my ties. Good luck, it is hit or miss. Sometimes it is great, so I will leave some stars intact. I am just not willing to throw away money since it is embarrassing to return meats time and time again. When I did return a few things, I was made to feel like it was me, and the meats were fine.
This is my go to place for meats. The ground beef is top notch, ground daily, and the best price around. There is much more than just pork and beef of course. Their chicken is great and the deli cheeses are top notch. I appreciate that the meats are relatively local raised, hormone and antibiotic free too. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and management is wonderful. I am a happy customer who shops regularly and plans to continue for a long...
