Hi, this review is really hard to write because I really did like my hair at first and I was told that what I wanted done to my hair is a process. Essentially I got up charged after scheduling a balayage from dark brown to a lighter ash brown. Hair stylist told me âno you actually want foil layageâ âŚâŚ..The appointment setter is where it went downhill in lack of professional communication. Iâm not the professional hair stylist, but I found out that the actual stylist should call new clients to make sure theyâre scheduled appropriately. I told the girl scheduling me that I have thick hair and that never got translated to the schedule. So I show up as the first appointment of the day and end up being her only client all day; she said that no I did not wanna balayage I really wanted to foil my hair, and she said the price will not be much different than what I was quoted because like any sane person, I budget what I spend on everything. I planned on 300$ with a tip, it was over 400$ with a tip so that was a lie. I donât even agree after the fact that I needed foils and I felt pressured into getting a service because they have a strict cancellation policy and would have charged me 300$ if I walked out. There has to be a degree of HONOR and responsibility of the salon to treat their clients professionally and responsibly as new clients, thatâs what yâall get paid for. Months later I think my hair is absolutely mediocre and Iâve had to tone it several times because your toning gloss was not at all a tone for my hair or she didnât give me the tone I ask for. I will never go back :( the girl who did my hair was absolutely lovely but business is business. I will be getting my hair fixed and blended properly at a different salon and it was a big lesson learned. I thought that this would be a top salon in Charleston but that was not my experience. It wasnât the worst but it wasnât worth what I paid for and it wasnât work getting told that I wanted foils because it wasnât even necessary. Now I have literal stripes of blonde in dark brown and ZERO blending. It doesnât look anywhere close to the specific color I had sent weeks before the appt and on the day of yet she didnât contact me before the appointment I made over a month in advance as a new client. I paid a super high price for mediocre experience oh and because I have thick hair? Also the haircut was bad because the back of my hair is shorter than the front. I have a long LOB⌠Getting it fixed somewhere else because Coven has no problem charging the highest prices without the professionalism that should be mandatory...
Read moreedit: just saw the response back from coven regarding me not mentioning my issues with my hair as soon as my appointment was done. I went home shocked and after I showed pictures to multiple people, they all agreed my hair looked terrible. I immediately reached out to my stylist asking to fix it and the second appointment was better- but still not great. I was never told about a cancellation fee either when I left my first appointment. I am also confused why I had to ask to be paired with a "seasoned" hairstylist who knew how to bleach hair. Why was I not informed by my stylist that she was new to bleaching? I would have asked for someone else at that point. I'm not sure how it is my fault my hair was ruined by one of the hairdressers here. Bleach damaged hair does not grow back over night- it will take months/years for my hair to grow out and be healthy again. Would still not recommend Coven to anyone I know.
asked to go back blonde after being a very light shade of brown and was told it would take 2 sessions which is understandable. i sent photos of my previously all blonde hair as the reference for what i wanted to go back to and was told we could achieve that with no problem. after my first hair apt i was devastated how my hair turned out and that same day i asked my hairstylist to fix my hair. $300 for it to look like my roots were already an inch grown out and the blonde at the top of my head didnât even match the blonde beneath my head and i was sent home with brassy roots at my bangs. my hair is brittle and dry 2 months after my apt and my hair broke off after i straightened it which has never happened before. i have ethnic hair and i do not think my stylist was prepared to properly do it and as a result, my hair is ruined. also was charged $95 for not coming to my second apt today which why would i come back after my hair was ruined from the...
Read moreI've been searching for a hairstylist ever since moving to South Carolina from New Jersey almost 3 years ago. I loved the cut from my stylist in Jersey and finally found someone who could replicate and improve upon that hair style.
I am thrilled to have found Ashley! She took the time to discuss what I liked about the hairstyle and was completely open to looking at pictures I brought as references. From consultation, to shampoo, to cut, and finally blowout, she was meticulous at every point during my visit. I enjoyed our conversations that helped create a relationship which I hope continues for a long time.
Hair is such an integral part of self-expression; and to find a highly skilled stylist who also has the ability to make clients feel comfortable is very important. I highly recommend Coven; kudos to Mac, the owner. I loved the cleanliness, decor, and all-around vibe of the salon. There are a lot of stylists to chose from and I'm sure you'll be able to find one who can give you exactly what you want! As an added convenience, there's a parking garage right next door.
Although I'll miss my former stylist, I'm glad the stars aligned and I won't have to pay for an airline ticket in order to have my...
