Re: August 2025 stay in the YOLO #306 unit.
This review speaks to the management of the property, not the property itself.
This was our second stay at The Lookout, and it is obvious that the offerings are not as robust as they once were. This is understandable, as several businesses have had to make changes to stay profitable in this economy. Unfortunately, the cutbacks at The Lookout have had an obvious, negative impact on their customer service.
During this stay, we chose a location closer to the pool so that our kids had quicker access. The home itself was great, however when we arrived, we noticed spider guts (apologies for lack of a better term) all over the kids' shower wall. We're talking at least 20 smushed spiders. We are not high maintenance, so we wiped them and moved on. However, throughout the week we stayed, there was a full-on live spider infestation, where they were continuously descending from the ceilings upstairs. We were devastated. I reached out to management immediately and consistently; we left messages, visited the office in-person, and even found email addresses on the company website seeking some intervention. When they finally, initially responded, I was sent in a continuous loop with custodial services. They simply did not care.
We then went to Safeway to buy spray in an attempt to handle it on our own, but this did not and could not stop the spiders from wherever they were coming from. No lie-I even found some in my bed, and this is when I hit my absolute breaking point. I did not let up until management finally acted, and even then, they treated us as if we were inconveniencing them. My kids were terrified and apparently there were no other locations available for us to move to. It wasn't until our last two nights that we were offered a bug-bomb for upstairs only, as long as we packed and agreed to be out of the property for 5 hrs. (This wasn't difficult as we never fully unpacked our things in order to keep spiders out of our clothes.) Afterwards, two nice cleaning ladies wiped down everything upstairs. We were also offered a 10% refund for our stay. Sadly, this was in no way worth the fear and disappointment we experienced. It was a literal,...

Our vrbo was pet-friendly, clean, w/basic amenities like deck chairs out front, grill, front porch, fluffy beach towels, coffee maker.
But the fire pit didn't work, there was no coffee, sugar, cream, or essential kitchen items like a sharp knife to cut watermelon, fridge kept beeping after we got water, stove/oven/microwave took forever to heat up, queen beds were uncomfortable & needed more than three pillows, only one extra comforter that we could find...
Just...a lot more needs to be added to make it complete.
Also, no driveway access to VRBO, just side parking, one space per occupant.
During our stay, construction was going on. Workers were very kind & accommodating. Last day, though, we got stuck in the guest parking lot, and had to drive over huge holes & remove a...
