Review Revised: I left my original review which was a 1 star so people can see, but wanted to give an update.
The following morning Garret called apologizing about the technician not showing up for the appointment stating that he was stuck late on a job. I understood but stated that a courtesy call would have been nice. After talking I decided to give them another chance. Garret was able to get me an appointment later that day. Jim showed up an hour earlier than what was scheduled (Garret had called to confirm this would be ok and fit with my schedule). Jim was friendly and knowledgeable giving me a few ideas as to why my window is leaking with heavy rain. The estimate he gave me is fair. I'm still unsure if I will hire Mr. Handyman. I do believe I fix the issue on my own, but they are on the top of my list to hire should the issue not be fixed. Garret has been keeping in touch with me and he made sure that I was satisfied with the service they have provided. both him and Jim are really friendly and wanted to make good on the goof up.
Original 1 star review Had requested an appointment for an estimate on some window repair. The contractor never showed up. After waiting an hour, I called the local office. No answer and left a voicemail. After waiting 2 hours, I called the phone number on my confirmation email that goes to the Handyman National Hotline. They couldn't find my information because the local office doesn't use that system. No courtesy email, phone call or anything saying the contractor couldn't make it. I'm quite...
Read more3/20/2024 Would give a -5 if I could. These people are the biggest hacks. We had our front porch's old wood and metal railing taken off. and had Mr. Handymen [Louis] replace the wood with Azek so we would never have to paint or replace it again, the worker that came out [Louis] tried to take a short cut and bought plastic sleeves to go over the 4x4 pillars, WE paid for Azek not a cheap plastic sleeve, WELL the finished front porch looks like CRAP, pillar trim cut short, header trim board not even 1" sticking out on one side and in on the other side, I have called to find out when they will replace all the trim again as stated in there GUARANTEE and backed by the Done Right Promise, their reply was WERE WORKING ON IT! We're going to write a complaint to the Better Business Bureau to get the porch redone the right way, without their shortcut ways. how many people have paid for quality materials, and they cheapened it up and made lots of money on the difference in the cost, AND at the end [Louis] wanted another $250+ for his time, NO WAY they made 3 trips to Home Depot because they tried to save $1,800 for their pocket, READ THE CONTRACT AND STICK TO WHAT YOU WANT! Warning neighbors not to use them. Middletown Connecticut. So close to taking them to small claims court. We asked for their Connecticut license number and they told us THEY CANT GIVE THAT...
Read moreConsumer Beware We had Mr Handyman redo our porch pillars and railing. Had them come out and write in our contract exactly what we wanted. They came out on a day with 30 to 50 mile per hour winds and 30 degree temperatures. Thought they would cancel, but they didn't. Took them over 8 hours and still did not complete the job, 3 trips to home depot because wrong materials. Then they wanted payment for labor.. after we were told half down half when job completed. So, they weren't finished and had to come back the next day. When they came back the next day, and finished they wanted $300.00 above the quoted contract, well no way were we paying that. The work was horrendous, 100 brads in the face boards, uneven header by 1 inch. Bottom trim was undersized, looks very odd. Finally they agreeded to come out on 3/25 to redo the whole thing.. 8am, so we get a call 7:45 am oh its too cold to do the work, we won't be out... that's it... now they won't answer our calls won't even give us a manager to talk to... LAWYER TIME ENOUGH WITH SHADY...
