This place has potential but needs just a few improvements in my humble opinion. It’s good but I think it could really be great. Pros: Building is beautiful, atmosphere is nice and interesting. Someone spent some money on this place. We got the sampler platter. Generous portions especially of the sides. The smoked sausage and hot link were so good! I would come back for that. The smoked Mac and cheese and okra were also tasty. The Mac even reheated well the next day. I really appreciated that. The ribs were pretty good, tender. Maybe could have been seasoned a bit more. The pulled pork had good flavor. The cook is who brought out our food and you can tell he loves what he does. As soon as he said he had house made sauces that he pairs with certain meats I knew they are actually trying here. Any serious bbq place has to have their own sauces.
Cons: I want to say nothing was out right bad other than my husband’s old fashion. He ordered an old fashion, I got a Moscow mule. My drink was fine but his was way over smoked and just tasted like wood and smoke. We could see our drinks just sat at the bar with that smoking lid on his for far too long. Our drinks took a very long time to get to us. We already had our food before we got them. I like to have my drink before I eat but that’s just my preference. The service here could use some improvement as well. No one ever came to check on us, ask us how the food and drinks were until it was obvious we were done and it was time to pay. Everyone was nice though. The overall complaint about the meat is that it was all a bit dry, other than the sausage. The chicken had good flavor but was a touch dry. Same with the pulled pork. The brisket was probably my least favorite. It’s cut so thin there is zero bark, which is the best part. While I appreciate that I wasn’t served mostly fat like some bbq joints like to do, this was very dry and nearly flavorless. Again, I think the people behind this place really care and there is a lot of potential for this to be a great spot. Which is much needed in this area. We will definitely try it again as there were lots of things on the menu that...
Read moreWe came in 2/12/25, my wife, family and I. We placed our order and the waitress kept having to come back to several of us to ask about stuff on order like stuff she forgot to write down and she would leave and come back several times. Then the food came, my ribs came out cold, no sides like I ordered, somehow they couldn't find the mac and cheese, or the regular corn bread, no bbq to go with my rib or our friends sandwich. My wife's friend had to get up and go get the BBQ sauce, the potatoes in the potato salad wasn't cook all the way through so I couldn't eat it, couldn't eat the jalapeño corn bread they brought me because it wasn't cooked all the way through so I couldn't eat it and half way through us waiting on getting our food I saw the cook leave towards the back and never came back don't know if they quit, went on break or what. On top of everything 3 out 6 people ended up with diarrhea! Me included. What started out as a fun night out turn into a nightmare. I never even saw any kind of manger or anything. I wanted to walk out. 1 star is all I can give there's nothing lower. The best thing about Savoy is the way it looks on the inside that's it. Service needs better training, food needs to be cooked fresh and not microwaved don't even think microwaving is even serv safe, food needs to be cooked all the way and management needs to check on guest. Because we was clearly upset before we even got our food and even more disappointed when the food came. I will be calling to follow up the manager or owner later today. And hospital if our symptoms get any worse. I'm pretty sure non of the 6 people i came with will ever go back here. I can honestly say I can't recommend this place to anyone. One more thing we was the only people in the restaurant besides a gentleman sitting at the bar drinking his beer. So why was the food and service so bad. Disgusted customer David Newton...
Read moreThe wife and I decided to try out the new place in town, The sign said wait to be seated so we waited a few minutes, a lady walked by and told us to sit wherever so we found a seat. At our table now waiting a bit and the same lady comes to us explaining that she actually works across the Street at Brandy's but would help get us started with drinks and hopefully one of the regular waitresses would help us. But nope ten minutes goes by and her she comes again and asks if anyone has helped us we said no so she said she would take our order after explaining she didn't work there again. Anyway we ordered, my wife ordered the French dip with baked beans and Mac & cheese and I ordered the meat lovers brisket sandwich with potato salad and baked beans with a hot link. Food came fairly quickly, wife said hers was cold upon inspection the hoagie roll was frozen and we was missing an order of bake beans waitress took her plate back and returned in seems like two minutes with her plate apparently they just microwaved it which made the meat and bread tough and chewy and no baked beans and now my plate which I wasn't completely disappointed with but wasn't what I ordered, I ordered brisket what I got was what seemed like roast beef it wasn't sliced it was one solid chuck of half beef and fat and didn't appear to be smoked it was more roasted and had been cut with the grain which made it stringy and chewy. I believe they comped me about two dollars and I was still charged for baked beans I never got. Definitely needs improvement and more training in dealing with the public. Hopefully we return in the near future but the wife...
