Granger has been a vital part of my business for 18 years now. Like all things, Granger has it’s positive points and a couple negative. The only two negatives I’ve run across, is that they won’t have the part in stock or it’s a little more expensive then you could get if you ordered it online from Amazon or eBay. Now for the positives. There’s got to be a couple hundred thousand items you can choose from and really whatever I have needed, they either had or could have it there for me within a day or so and I’m talking about some really off-the-wall things like a particular types of electrical brushes to rebuild a vacuum motor or a waterproof 240 volt 20 amp switch. They also have the basics like a particular type of glove that I can only find from them. This glove can hold up to the harsh environments in which we use them. Again, this is a pretty weird item - a non-flocked, neoprene, chemical resistant glove that keeps our skin from melting! To address the other negative of pricing, in almost every situation the fact that you do not have to pay shipping for them to get the item to you makes the price for what you need as much as or even a little less than had you ordered online. One time I ordered a hazardous waste containment container from them and the cost of the item was as much as it would have been for just the shipping had I ordered it online. I also enjoy the fact that you can have human interaction with a salesman-the old fashion way. All this being said, “Steve says“ this is a great place to get you’re hard to find and common every day items. They will even have a human being answer the phone if you call them looking for a...
Read moreAs a home owner and hobbiest, I often find my self at places like this, that are more geared toward the professional tradesmen. One of the things that I really appreciate about this particular location is that they always treat you like a pro, even if you're just there looking for an odd ball $5 part. A lot of places don't seem to want your business, unless you're spending hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. Not so here.
The other mark of a truly professional sales force to me is not hesitating to send someone to another business if they can help you better. Several times I've been here looking for things that Grainger only sells in bulk, and the sales people haven't hesitated to recommend smaller local suppliers that sell smaller quantities. Thanks for not making me buy 100' of a hose I only needed 5' of! Also there's some stuff that they don't carry, but the guys here always seem to know where to...
Read moreI stopped in at Grainger Chula Vista and Suzie saved the day with exemplary service. She smiled and had a friendly greeting as I approached the counter. The store is very clean and neat. I need a pulley adapter bushing so my service team could put a paint booth AMU blower back together. Suzie quickly found the bushing I needed and threw in a few pulley keys, too. The whole process went quickly and smoothly, and I left with...
