Madisonville Recreation Center — Local services in Cincinnati

I sent my child here for one week into the summer and it seemed like it did him more harm than good. We have been to camp at other Cincinnati recreation centers and they have been a pleasant experience.

When your child starts off the week by not wanting to go to camp it seems standard that sometimes kids don’t want to go anywhere and be at home, I think we all experience that with work as well. Except when my child started to beg me to not send him and he was willing to do any chore, manual labor or even come into a very boring work place and sit for 9 hours with nothing. That raises a concern.

By the time I had thoroughly questioned him it seems that he was getting bullied repeatedly for no other reason that I raised him as a softie. I don’t think he has ever been in a fight as he is only 9 but when he is scared to go to camp that becomes an unacceptable place for any child to be. The real worrisome problem is that I was never even notified. This seems to be happening so much that it doesn’t even get reported to most parents. That states that small fights or even minor scuffs become ignored. Therefore I withdrew my child and sent him somewhere else which was very hard as must summer camps fill up before summer even starts.

Walked up to my son's futsal practice. Standing at the door was a guy smoking weed. He left as we approached but....seriously?! The center looked clean, the building nice. There are BIG signs warning you to lock your car because Madisonville is where thieves, dealers and others live. (Yes, well.meaning people live there too but even they don't come out after dusk) Checkers were available on request. Overall, CRC has done a nice job. Just don't hangout in Madisonville...

This place is horrible the summer camp is unsafe the staff an the children are very unsafe to be around..
