I could not distinguish be a regular room at this hotel and the suite I booked and paid extra for. When I brought up with the supervisor that ensuite has more than one room he responded, "Well I guess that depends on how you define suite." Had to bring my own toilet paper, because the toilet paper was newspaper like, but thinner. The television channels were mostly local, with maybe 6 cable channels. The room for 2 nights for what they call "suite", one room and a bathroom, an upcharge from a regular room, was $317 and some change and when we checked out that is what we were told would be charged to our card, and that was what was on the bill that was emailed to us, but their was an extra $50 a night charged to our account "in case there were incidentals", even though the guy told us their were no incidentals charged to our room. This fee was never mentioned to us at any point until we called back and asked why they were billing us extra. The supervisor on duty said it could take up to a week or more to get the extra money credited back to our account.
They gave us a free breakfast at the restaurant and the only thing worth eating was the omelet. The fruit was mushy, the muffins tasted like cardboard, and coffee tasted like it was made from chicory. The bacon was crispy, but was apple wood smoked.
The two chair, table, and bench were shoved into a corner, and we had to move them out ourselves to make then usable. The bed was very soft, and the pillows were nice, and they did put the extras we asked for into the room.
Their is nothing withing 15 minutes of this hotel other than a Rally's and a gas station. And the shelves in the door of the fridge take up most of the room in the fridge.
The indoor parking was abysmal, bad a huge concrete pillar on both sides of every parking space. To exit the garage you have to drive the opposite way on the single lane entrance to cross over to the exit. The parking spaces are narrow and short. Even the disabled parking areas that my wife and I use, she is disabled, that are van accessible according to the signs had me worried about my vehicle being damaged. The only other parking available was either valet, or street parking on a pot holed street that was so narrow it shouldn't have had parking on it.
My 7th floor "suite", as they refer to the one room room, had a view of a medical complex and it's parking garage.
If I could take stars away from them I would, but alas 1 star is the lowest I can give them.
I would not...
Read moreThere is a disconnect between the sales staff and the Overlook Kitchen + Bar. I was in contact for multiple months before our stay because we booked a block of rooms for our wedding. I informed the sales associate I was working with that we would have 40 people wanting to eat and drink on the Friday of our Wedding at the rooftop bar. The sales associate asked if she could make a reservation for us at the bar, which I thought was great...until we showed up to the restaurant and were told we had a reservation for 10 and that anything over 15 needed to be set up as a private event (in all fairness, on one of the first phone calls I had with the sales associate, I was told that sometimes it's easier for parties of our size to rent out a private room, but I was never told that we HAD to rent out a room). I have an email thread with the sales associate the week before our wedding, again, where I reiterated the number of people we would have, and nothing was discussed at that time about having to rent out a room. We then had 37 people who were sitting at the restaurant lobby/restaurant, and all we kept being told was they couldn't do anything and couldn't serve us. After over an hour of speaking with 3 different women at the restaurant, who continuously told us there was nothing they could do, the Hotel Manager showed up. I had to explain the situation for the 4th time to him, to which he tried to figure out something. After a half hour of dealing with him, because he had to call the sales associate, he finally opened up an empty room to us (which was open all night)! We spent over an hour and 45 minutes trying to get someone to help us when I had emails that backed up what I was saying. I was then expecting the sales associate to reach out this week as a check in to see how everything was because we brought over 30 rooms of service to the hotel, and she knew about the situation on Friday, but I have received nothing! I then called the hotel to talk to customer service, and was told I would have to contact Trip Advisor to give a review (a third party site, which I don't believe has any authority over the hotel). I feel as though this all could've been handled more efficiently, and the complete lack of follow up, and/or ability to speak to someone is...
Read moreFirst thing walking in room I check tub...pubic hair all over. Then I noticed the complimentary shampoo bottle was squeezed in, opened it to see half full bottle. Then checked other complimentary items- lotion bottle completely empty! I have never been to a hotel that set out USED items(not even Motel 8) when I called front desk about it their first response was so you need new ones? I was like well yeah-THAT'S GROSS! Then she apologized after I brought to her attention how gross that is. The rest of room seemed clean- but if they couldn't put new toiletaries in room or clean tub who's to say sheets were even changed? The beds were comfy, big screen TV, Keirug coffee maker, nice decor-kinda plain for me tho- had usb plugs by bed was nice ...terrible view( of the roof😕) seems like for 240.00 a night it would had been clean and more to offer~ like a pool and free breakfast. Hotel is unique, but the area is unpleasant- nothing at all around. Constitution on one side and warehouses on other no restraunt nearby or anything ...so with rooftop restaurant view- theres nothing nice to really look at. The restraunt was TERRIBLE as well. Went in at 10pm , nobody sat us, had to walk in after waiting 5 min, then 5-6 servers see me including manager and NOT ONE asked if I needed help. Had to approach one for menu , then had to ask for another server to take my order~ took 45 minutes to get 3 burgers to go!! When I was handed my food not one person apologized for my wait or even offered a discount...worst experience ever at a hotel restraunt. I did like the gym there very big- the " art" museum was a joke..just drive 19 minutes to the real art museum its nice and free. Lastly all that speak of parking on street are not lieing. We went to Reds game and came back at 930pm...just to find no spots in garage, so we had to park on the side street. Unbelievable they don't have enough spaces to provide guest. They have 2nd entrance, but that's for valet only( which they had numerous spaces left) but cost extra. As much as I spent I wouldn't recommend this place- it looks cool - but overpriced for what they have and the unclean room...skimping out on toiletries...I had high hopes and was very...
