Big issue for me is the on-going issue of indoor pool schedule. Many times when posted as open swim but yet many times pool is roped off or not roped off but lap swimming is allowed even when it is open swim. Then the members that are lap swimming during open swim get mad and say I/we are in there way and say for us to yeild right of way. Open swim is open swim. If they want part lap and part open then list it has half open half lap. Some of the times are listed like that but many times it is listed as open swim only but yet lap swimming is allowed. Also too there are many times when the pool is designated for lap swim. Very inconsistent on pool rules. Pool times need revamping and followed in a more comsistent manner or do not post or have pool times/schedules. Would be nice to have some open swim in general and not so late after 8pm on a work day. So my question is how come the lap swimmers can lap swim during open and be bothered by us during open swim but when it is lap swim we can not open swim? How come lifegurads on duty do not say anything to the members that are lap swimming during open swim? Why do the lifeguards allow the lap swimmers get angrry at the open swimmers they are in the wrong for lap swimming during open swim and the gurads to are in the wrong for not saying anything to the members that are not follwoing the pool times/schedules. Very simple look at the posted times and follow the posted times. Just stuff to thiknk about.
Saw some reviews on the locker rooms. My take locker rooms pretty clean. They really do try to keep them clean and dry but it is hard many use the showers there after workouts. Also too many use the showers after a swim all year indoor pool then on top of that when Memorial Day weekend begins they have three swimming pools in use so the locker rooms are going to be not perfect then we have summer camps too. Again will admit locker rooms are good as can be actually they could be much wors then they are. The fitness center is fine lots of cardio and stretching area too. Clean as can be for a fitness center they keep clean and keep it well stocked with cups for water, wiping pads etc. If something needs attention or empty just get an attendant they have the issue fixed right away. Will admit not sure how the gym/basketball area is do not use...
Read moreGreat people and a great place to find friends. Their aquatics center, made up of an indoor and outdoor pool, is great, as are the swim lessons for kids. Summer camp, especially Olam, is well worth it. So are vacation camps and their after-school programs, which they run on sure and in several Albany schools. Their fitness center offers many options. No track, which is a bit of a downside in winter, but not enough to...
Read moreWhen I lived in Albany I absolutely loved going to the JCC it was definitely a family atmosphere. The trainers there are amazing and super friendly. There is a ton of classes to choose from and the trainers are awesome at accommodating if you have an injury and need to modify. One of my favorite parts was the use of the outdoor pool in the summer. Totally recommend...
