Fantastic Planet — Local services in City of Plattsburgh

Although I don't live in Plattsburgh anymore, I always try and make an effort to visit this shop when I am in town. I have shopped there since it first opened downtown in the Riverview building over 20 years ago. The staff is super knowledgable and friendly. This is the kind of shop that you can take your kids to, and is friendly to everyone else too. If you are just looking to start reading comics or if you are an avid collector make an effort to talk to the guy who is usually working, he's a super cool dude. An added bonus to me at least is Fantastic Planet owned by a woman, a real rarity for this retail sector. This is one of my favorite comic shops anywhere, and I have been to shops all over Europe and Japan. Not so huge that it is overwhelming, not so small that you feel you are being stared at...

The only true comics store within 50 miles with both knowledgeable and truly committed owners who are the staff! They're both welcoming and a part of the local community for nearly a half century!!! Considering that one of the largest international (Diamond Comics) distribution centers is only a few miles away, I am often surprised at how much work and effort Fantastic Planet has to devote to fulfilling their customers' orders. But they do it gladly and without being asked!! Over the past decade Paul and Donna have been exemplary models of what a comics store owner should be. They're both fan and intellectual nerd as well as business oriented which is not what I could say of some comic publishers and distributors!! Hands down the best comic shop in town. I was very surprised to see the variety of titles for the size of the shop. My rating is biased comparing Fantastic Planet to Third Eye Comics in Annapolis MD. Steve at Third Eye is an anomaly of comic information but not to worry the owners of Fantastic Planet know their craft. The greatest asset any comic shop has is its staff.
