This review is a little longer than I would typically leave and it's because I like this company so much! About a year ago, I started searching for flatware,... Again. We have been through about 4 different sets of flatware in our household. We've tried it all. Bought stuff from stores, bought stuff on line, bought "high grade" stainless from those sources, bought different styles, etc. Every single set we have previously owned ended up getting water spots, rust, dulling, generally just looking run down and old within just a couple years. This last time I started searching for "quality" flatware. I wanted something that would last more than just a year or two. I thought, "what's better quality than MADE IN AMERICA". As I started looking for brands that were Made In America I was shocked to find that there were about two companies that were. Liberty Tabletop and one other. I looked at the other and the style designs were pretty limited. Liberty Tabletop had exactly what I was looking for. They were a little on the higher end for cost, but not as high as I have paid for some other sets that did not last. So I bought a sample set. Got it in quickly and loved it! Good weight. Good finish. Washed them a few times and no water spots. So I bought an entire set. Could not be happier with that purchase! This is absolutely the BEST flatware out there. A little over a year now and everything looks brand new. Like I just pulled out out of the package. If you are contemplating getting one of their sets, Do Not Hesitate. You will love it too! Beyond my (very high) expectations. It is superbly weighted, polished, and crafted. I had been looking for a sterling silver set, but was never willing to shell out the money. I wanted very high quality, mid-century beauty, and ethical labour and environmental practices. Took me forever to find Liberty, and I am glad we waited. Treated ourselves to this for our 25th anniversary. Most people cannot afford such a fine but pricey flatware set, and I don't think it's fair to bash the much cheaper overseas sets they will end up buying. Everyone needs a job, and people get what they can afford. That said, if you want to 'make America great again', buying from a socially responsible US company that produces gorgeous flatware is a good way to start. (Sidenote- we have horribly hard water in Southern Ontario, Canada- even with a good water softener system. After the first dishwasher run, I almost had a heart attack when I saw all the spots. Best flatware company around, great customer service. I have been looking for a quality flatware set with a very particular feel to it. So much flatware has become cheap or sacrificed feel for beauty. I ordered a set from Liberty that seemed like a good match, but turned out not to be. I returned it and the return was processed immediately. So I did what I should have done in the first place, and used their sample program.
