Update: Our family went back to Clarksburg Splash Zone the following day with our armbands and after explaining about the day before we were let in for free bc of the power being out the day before. So I have to say Splash Zone made it right with us. So I am changing my 1 star rating to 4.
I was in total disbelief with our experience at this pool today! We had been planning this day with family from out of town for sometime, all the kids were so excited. Our family paid a total of $88.50 to get in, we literally went arond the lazy river once when the power went out. We hung around in the heat waiting for some word on what was happening. Finally, word came around that it would be about 2- 2 1/2 hr before the power MIGHT be restored. The kids were whining bc of the heat and concession stand wasn't even open to get a bottle of water. So of course we decided to leave after hearing from several employees that there wld be NO refunds or rain checks. I was very upset, but I was just as upset for an elderly lady who had brought her two granddaughters and they hadn't even gotten their clothes off to get in the pool when the power went off, still NO refunds. The employees weren't the slightest bit understanding, they just seemed annoyed because people wanted some kind of information. Now we find out SOME people were offered a paper to give their information so this could be made right. What about the people who paid out their hard earned money for nothing and were unable to wait around for someone to decide what to do?!? I can understand no rain checks for weather, but why doesn't the pool have a back up plan like generators. I would like to know how much money Splash Zone collected today from people who DID NOT get the service they paid for. Splash Zone knows the numbers of wristbands sold today, I feel anyone from today should be able to bring in their bracelet in within the nxt week and get in for free. Whatever they decide to do they need to make this right one...
Read moreToday was a disaster. I took 5 boys and my 8 month old daughter for a relaxing afternoon to the pool. All the kids was excited as expected. After paying $60 to get in to the pool, we found a spot in the grass so we could have some elbow room. We put sun screen on all the kids and was about to say goodbye to the sun and jump in like a bunch of fish. Then, the whistle blew. We thought it was a whistle for a break. However the power shut off and pool was shut down. I explained to the manager we never even got in the pool and asked if I could be refunded since we received no services. She told me that it would be a little while but they was going to try to get up and running. I explained to the manager we had a 8 month old girl and just setting around with sunscreen fighting the heat wasn’t going to cut it. She looked at me and said sorry no refunds. As expected I was extremely irritated and to the max. If we had utilized the pool at any point I could understand. But this was very rude and unorthodox. A little later the staff came out with a price of paper taking names and how many in the party and gave us a ticket for 8 people to use at another time. Thank you for that. But to be told for 45 minutes I could not have my money back because I didn’t want my 8 month old to be in the heat without being able to get in the water was absolute torture. My daughter should have not had to set in the heat and should have been refunded IMMEDIATLEY so we could have left. No refunds policy’s are intended for services they have received. I’m this case, the staff here was pretty much making us give a donation to help fix their pool until many people started complaining. You cannot tell someone they can’t have a refund when they didn’t receive services to begin with. Please give your opinion to this. I am open to hear if I am in the wrong. Many people their was in shock to hear this and was also mad but had at least gotten in the...
Read moreI used to love this place but this past season has changed my mind. First of all, there are signs all over the place saying that if you are caught with ANY outside food, you will be banished. OK, that’s fine if you are willing to offer toddler friendly, healthy foods. But they do not. If you want to spend the day with your young children, you are going to have to settle for feeding them popsicles or ice cream for lunch. You would think that a hospital owned organization would care more about community health. So, if you are concerned about your little one’s nutrition my advice is to drive a few miles up 79 to the Fairmont wave pool. They allow small coolers. Also, the Marilla pool in Morgantown offers many healthy food options. And then there is the fact that they make you very well aware with signs at the entrance that there are no rain checks offered. OK, that’s fine too, but the pool is open until 7 and I was there one day when there were a couple claps of thunder. For every clap of thunder, they add 30 minutes. They closed the pool at 3:00 because they heard thunder a few times that never resulted in ANY rain or lightning. If you insist on following ignorant, arbitrary rules you had better offer rain day passes! Oh and btw, Sandcastle in Pittsburgh hands out rain day passes even when they close a half hour early! Clearly, just a money making scheme 🤦♀️ You can do better, VA...
