Fresh Harvest is a local Atlanta CSA so keep in mind that if you want to your produce to be local, then you must select the Georgia Grown option. I started using them when we started to make the switch to local. Traditionally we would visit the Dekalb Farmers Market but it was such a long drive from Gwinnett. Overall, we have had some positive and negative experiences. Packing wise they aim to use environmentally friendly items - no plastic for the fruit and veg. The issues we have run into is always the portions are small so pay attention to the size, as the picture on the website might not match the size of the item you will receive. In addition, if they run out of something, they will sub with something they have extra of. So for example, we got mushrooms one time and we do not eat mushrooms in our household. Lastly, I would caution about the produce during the Summer. We always had trouble with our salad wilting, despite the cooling packs they used. Now they have trucks that keep produce cool but the influx of routes has made the drivers a little over burdened. We had one experience with the wrong food delivered, (it was another family's) and they couldn't get in touch with the driver to swap out the food. Eventually we left it out and they did the swap but I cautioned the reps that our cat had invaded the kale, and probably needed to notify the owners of a replacement. Customer Service is stellar. They are quick to provide credits for mishaps, and provide discounts when you are not happy with produce. As mentioned above, customer service was really apologetic. If delivery is not an option, I highly recommend picking it up from Living Well Market in Suwanee. They are a local farm store and offer everything you can generally find on Fresh Market. Produce vary and some items might be cheaper through the store and vice versa. For example, eggs are cheaper in the store ($5) assuming they have stock available. But delivery does offer convenience so you don't have to leave your home. My favorite thing from Fresh Market has actually been knowing it supports farmers, and trying different foods. We found a sparkling water that is amazing. Would recommend. Doesn't hurt to try once. You can also call, and sometimes they will do a promo to give you $30 off or try the box free. Don't hesitate to ask the customer service for...

I wanted to update my review to share that after reading my post, Daniel on Fresh Harvest’s customer service team stepped up to rectify the situation and make things right. After my interactions with Daniel, I am actually going to continue using Fresh Harvest and consider what previously happened to be an unfortunate mishap and lapse in judgment, but one that was easily remedied. Hopefully it was a learning experience for their team. A+ for Daniel; because of his efforts, he turned a disgruntled and disappointed ex-customer into a renewed paying customer.
OLD REVIEW:
My wife and I found Fresh Harvest through Groupon and were thrilled to try it out, as we love supporting local farmers. Our first basket included a vibrant, colorful array of fresh produce, and we decided to continue with the service. Unfortunately, our next two deliveries were wildly disappointing, to say the least.
Fresh Harvest drops your baskets off at your home in coolers that are supposed to be kept cool. However, they only put one ice pack in the coolers, and this did not suffice. Both of our last two boxes included produce that were rotten upon arrival, including a bunch of wilted and dead basil, rotten corn on the cob with shrunken, hard kernels, and a red onion that was as soft as a water balloon and oozed black rot. I reached out to the company to cancel the service, and they did absolutely nothing to offer to remedy the situation. I was expecting that they would at least try to make it right and attempt to keep our business by offering a free basket or refunding the last, but no.
We are bummed and will try some other companies out. We want to continue enjoying local produce and supporting community farmers, but we only want to work with companies who value their clients and practice honorable...
Read moreWe've been members since the end of July and it's already changed our lives. Fresh Harvest is brilliance and GA is especially lucky to have this service here. It's freed us from flavorless fruits and vegetables of the grocery store. Everything is so delicious and it keeps us honest with eating healthy and at home.
You can choose a GA grown fruit and veggie basket and if you want to swap things you out, you can customize your order with other available GA grown options. But there are other types of baskets that are not just GA grown for more variety. They even have a juicing basket or a break room basket! You can even send a basket to a friend or donate to someone who is in need. Furthemore, they have meat & eggs, vegan protein, dairy, baked goods, beverages, pantry items (like pasta, spices, oils, nut butters, jam, grains, beans, etc), health & beauty, and meal packages. You can grocery shop from the comfort of your home.
It is especially meaningful and crucial that we are supporting small family owned ethical farms while cutting down on unnecessary packaging and transportation emissions. They reuse their baskets (medium sized sturdy plastic containers) and foil and ice packs. Sometimes things are packaged in plastic containers/bags, but for the most part are in paper bags.
Here is a direct quote from website: "Our farmers practice restorative farming which enriches their soil and their surrounding communities for generations to come. We work with small family organic farms. Our local farmers crop plan from year to year with our customers in mind. They grow highly diverse crops for the healthiest ecosystem, while also cover cropping and resting their land."
